Meg the idea behind this is really very creative and certainly grabs the eye.

You have colour seepage around the hat into the bricks. Use a HARD edged brush when you get that close to border of hat, if you use soft brush the colour seeps out beyond the borders. Also you can bring back the monochrome by hitting X on the keyboard as you are working and paint over the brick to get back the monochrome.

Your beautiful little niece is soft. I know there is a problem with FAR and uploading as I have been having the same problem of late but she is out of focus.

I hope that helps. The idea is very nice.

Thank you Olga. I never knew about hitting the X. The other thing I have noticed id that some of the filters tend to soften the photos. Have you noticed that ?

No, I haven't noticed that but I'm not surprised. I don't understand why FAR (an art and photo site) has such a crappy upload. Other sites, don't have this problem. Yes, if you hit the X on PS while doing this technique it reverts it back.

gee i wonder what color the hat is..evil grin. lol. the angle of the shot of the folks in the car is great. the capture of the light is great. the clarity is great. the red does stand out in this black and white. the image is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. good eye and great job overall.

A nice "informal" portrait. The wave to the crowd is great and the red hat is certainly eye catching. Her shaded face does not make things easy, but the expression is good. Best of luck in the contest.

good contest entry, I like the image converted to b/w and that just the little girls hat is red, she looks so pretty and obviously proud to be with her dad, you have captured her sweet innocence in this shot very well. good focus, clarity and selective colour.
good luck in the contest.

Very original shot, which immediately focuses the eye on the young girl's face, despite the hat's colour. Good use of software, and nicely detailed colour on the hat.

I always find this kind of photos great. The fact that you have made the photo b&w highlighting the red hat makes the girl to standout. Good level of contrast. Good luck with the contest.

Lovely young lady you captured here. Likely focused and detail. You did a good job with your selective coloring as well. All I can say if it was my photo is to brighten the dark shadows a bit to bring out more detail in her dad's face. Well done and thanks for sharing with us.
