a lovely image of the kingfiher, i like the positioning in the frame the branches draw the eye towards the subject, good eye capture and the bird stands out well agains the black background, lovely soft colours on the feathers, it is a little soft focus but the overall composition is great, not easy to take through wire but you did a good job, i know what you mean about the upload do you use any post processing as this could help, well done.

Thanks so much Jo, appreciate your suggestions and positive words. Only post processing I do would be minor adjustment to levels and cropping if required. This one I made no adjustments, doesn't seem to matter maybe it is the size of the file I upload.

Love the pose. The black background is spot on. I think I would clone out the branch (?) on the bottom just so the bird can be more highlighted. Very nice indeed. Cheers, James.

Thanks again James, not good at cloning but did look at cropping but made it too tight. May give your suggestion a try should practice cloning more :) Mary

I think I already reviewed this today but it seems there's some technical problems on this site lately...
Okay, I've stated about the cute & candid capture!!
Fine details, features & textures.
The darkened backdrop pops out the subject prominently!
If I may suggest, I would consider cropping the distracting foreground to get rid of that diagonal twig at the lower right corner.
A well timed still action shot!
We have a contest for this genre.
Thanks for sharing...

Thanks for the 2nd time review, it has happened to me also thought I just hadn't hit the save button properly. LOL I appreciate your suggestions, looked at cropping but made it a bit too tightly framed maybe will try cloning the twig. :) Mary

Hi Zilyram,

This is a beautiful bird and the dark background shows off its colourful plume quite well. I love the pastel effect of the colours too. Thanks for sharing this! R

Excellent capture. I see what you mean in the very slight loss of detail. Nonetheless, you have a great photo here and a stunning image. Lighting is superb as is the action that you caught. Very well done.

Nice POV and framed well for depth in the photo and allowing subject room for movement. The colors of the bird are rich and the black background helps it to stand out. The white of the neck and the lower branch are a little soft and lack good detail compared to the rest of the picture. thanks for sharing and HAGD
