...lol...my pregnant tree looks like it could have 3 or 4 or maybe even 5 different fathers!! I have more of these on my property but this one is most definitely my favorite. Just love it when comments make me laugh out loud. Yours, did just that MK. Thanks for viewing...commenting...and making me laugh!

This is a neat shot. I have seen these bumpy and gnarly trees in the Rocky Mountains. Reminds me of how we often turn out as we get older. Maybe not perfect, whatever that means, but just as interesting. Good work Deb.

Yes! It Made it. I have to admit: No one has ever sent me a Dead Flower before...except that one time in high school when this girl....oh never mind about that. Thank you so very much Deb. You are a Gem.

a fantastic find and presentation; never seen something similar; would be interesting to know what was responsible for these bumps; could be insects, could be vegetal tumors;

Thank you so much SG. Your marvelous rating of my 'bumpy tree' flatters me. I am told it is a virus that causes these growths...hmmnn....not so sure about that. It looks very healthy to me. I appreciate you viewing and commenting and thank you again for the wonderful rating.

right; I completely forgot the virus

I have never seen a tree trunk like this before! Considering the unusual nature of the trunk it certainly deserves a central composition. Colours and tones look natural. Well done!

Not many people have. UVM forest service told me it was rather rare.....not harmful to the tree. They were also the ones who told me about the bowls. See 'and this is....The BUMPY Tree' the photo I posted just prior to this one for more info. if you like. Thank you so much for viewing and commenting.

Well first of all I'm glad to see that you made it through the cold night! And this is definitely an unusual spectacle of a tree. It almost looks like some variety of a Cypress...? Interesting post for sure and great colors!~ Thanks!

We survived....hairy dogs probably felt it less than I did. Did you get my note?? It is a Cedar tree, Becky...lol...w/ a virus. Gives my tree real character though, don't you think?? I always think of the Elephant Man....not meaning to sound rude or anything....Thank your for viewing and commenting Becky.....and worrying.

You are most welcome, and yes...Elephant Man movie was a great show full of feeling...the same as your tenderness for this tree. I'm glad you still have a healthy body temp! One more night maybe!

I am going to STOP looking at the thermometer....it said 19 below the last time I looked...GOOD LORD. They promise by Monday temps will improve.

And you're right Becky. I LOVE this tree.

Bumpy Tree is certainly strong. I would have a great afternoon discovering the make-believe characters in her nooks and crannies, bumps and lumps, dark lines and branches shooting out in every direction. I think I see a giraffe, and the cartoon character Bo-Winkle. I'm glad you provided narrative on why you chose the vertical close up photo. I wanted to see more of her surroundings, but then would have missed her well-balanced strength and endurance. Good color for what you had to work with and composition too.

....lol....I really like the way you think PF!!! Please see the photo I posted just prior to this (and this is....the 'BUMPY Tree' ) to get a bigger perspective of where this tree stands and how it looks. Thanks so much for viewing and commenting.

It's a virus Bunkie. Unusual, I'm told...but gives this tree real character. Thanks so much for viewing and commenting.

Ouch, that has to hurt. :)
The burling of the wood gives this tree real character and a unique appearance. In some species, this burling would make this tree very valuable. Usually needs to be a hardwood species that is used as veneer. Thanks for sharing this unique scene.

YES!! exactly how I think of my tree....it has CHARACTER!! This is a soft wood...Cedar...and it looks so perfect standing at the head of one of my flower beds. Thank you FBI for viewing and commenting....love your input here.

A most peculiar tree. I wonder what causes this. It is certainly a nice clear shot in very nice light. The colors are natural and the composition is good.

It's a virus causing it MM....not very common and seen most often in Cedar Trees. It's one of several on my property here although this is, by far, the most dramatic looking. Thank you so much for viewing and commenting....appreciate your time.
