Deborah, this is a great image. I guess the tendency is to get rid of flowers which are past their best but this is lovely. Technically very good, you have a great artistic eye. Many thanks. Mike

Thank you so much Mike. I love hearing that someone else appreciates the beauty of a flower once it's 'past it's prime'....although sometimes they're even prettier then. I have a whole collection of '...after they're dead' photos. Thank you for your time here at my flowers.

The colour is spectacular in this photo. If you could bring it in a little closer you would have greater detail, but otherwise it is a great shot... I love taking
flower photos myself so I can appreciate the beauty.

Thank you so much BP. That color in the background is more of my gardens. Do not have a macro lens...yet....but look forward to the day I have one and can really get close to my flowers. Thanks again for viewing and commenting.

A beautiful picture of the Clematis Seed Head lit from above by the sun that gives it a three D appearance against the dark greens of the background.

Wow! I like the saturation & contrast of the colors here!
A virtual 6!
Creative concept. Innovative approach. Imaginative presentation.
Crop some more on the right side to make it a square format framing.
Nice perspective & narrow DOF. Thanks for sharing...

Thank you so much Dick....certainly appreciate the virtual '6'....always enjoy your comments. I'm not big on the square format but will keep it in mind. Again...thanks for visiting my flowers.

I totally agree with you that flowers are just as pretty when the blossoms are gone, and the Clematis is a very good example of this. I have them in my garden and have noticed the same. I especially like the fine golden colors in the fluffy seed pod, and also how well it is standing out from the nicely softened background. I also like a lot the strong green and purple colors of the background.

Your photo is also nice and sharp and it is indeed clear and well defined details to be seen in the pod down to the smallest hairs. I also think the exposure is very good.

The cropping is neatly done and the pod has got a very fine placement within the frame. A truly lovely and well taken photo, and with an excellent DOF.

A superb shot. I think the colors are great and the details in the puffy seed head are fantastic. I like the cropping and the effective use of limited depth of field.

The subject image is splendidly sharp and looks wonderful with that lovely offset and blurry background, and it is a great 4.9 out of five (my critical textual score). The image of a fluffy seeded former clematis bloom has a suitable depth of field and also stands out by virtue of its lighter colour (and being well lit) set against the deeper colours of the background. How ever did to manage to capture such sublime and varied colours in the background (?). It seems that you are using a suitable and quality lens. I also like those stalks or rather abstract lines that intuitively frame the subject. It is a superb picture.

Thank you SR. I take that 4.8/5 as high praise from you. I'm so glad you like it. Believe it or not those are some of my gardens in the background....they behaved marvelously for me that day, didn't they! I've told people that my flowers seem to jump to attention when I'm out in them w/ my camera. I am almost embarrassed to tell you that when I took that photo I had only a fixed lens camera....an Olympus....but I took many wonderful photographs w/ it. I have since been able to purchase a new Olympus w/ lens which can be changed. Saved a long time....but I am LOVING it.

Thank you again for viewing and commenting and the wonderful rating.

Oh my heavens! I have been waiting for a truly great photograph to give it it's just rewards. The colors of the overall composition are so eye appealing. I love the purples and blues and how they set off the sharply detailed remnants of what was one a beautiful flower. Just goes to show that death is often more beautiful than life. Very well done Deb. I am proud of you girl.

Oh YIPEE Steve!!! Thank you so so much! Oh am I delighted. I love this photo....I have thousands but DO have a list in my head of some of my very favorites and this is one of them. As pretty as it is when blooming I like it just as much in this state. It's so much fun to see dozens of these little poofs fluttering in the breeze.

So thank you so much for your kind words about it and the fantastic rating. I am flattered...and honored.
