A good portrait of him,,,love his smile, love the red background to match his collar, I suspect? You did great for his colour and fur,,his eye colour is fantastic, great work of art here

thank you Liseworks for such kind words. the background was sort of just guess work I didn't mean it to match his color but it seemed to work. I had a friend mention that I should have used a different type for the color, but that was the ugly collar my daughter picked out for him and he wore it all the time. I always thought that it was about the ugliest thing I ever saw, but she was 8 years old when we adopted Lee and that was the collar he had to his death. she use to use a lot of different do=rags for him so I tried one of them instead, but she said she couldn't really remember him in one particular one like she did that collar, so the ugly collar won out LOL. thank you again for taking the time to review this and the encouraging compliments

What a great work of art Diane. I really like that look on his face: a look of joy and anticipation, fun loving and just happy to be with people he loved. I know he felt that from you. I love the details and those eyes. Very nicely done Diane.

thank you Stephen. This isn't what I would classify my best work because of the reference's I had to use but my daughter loves it and Lee was really her dog so the painting was for her. I deeply appreciate the compliment and the review. wanted to also let you know of another hobby I have. I do animated videos. I design the characters and do all the voices. I put the first part of my animated series on my profile page. that's the only way you can download videos on here. If you get a chance I'd love for you to take a look. It's the first video on my profile page titled " The Protectors" I don't want to post any more of the scenes if no one is interested in them, but I've had a blast doing that type of art if you want to call it that. this particular series I wrote the entire script, designed the characters, their movements, and did all the voices with a morph program. None of the characters are introduced in this first video other than one Dr Lome. but it gives the story line detail. I have to admit I have been working on this series for over 2 years because they keep upgrading the programs so I keep upgrading my film quality at this rate I'll never finish it LOL. It's only a few minutes at that if you care to take a look. thanks again Stephen for a great review

WOW Paul what a fantastic review and compliment. I still see so many flaws in this piece but your review really gives me the encouragement that I needed. I felt that putting this one in a contest would never walk so thank you for your review, it really means a lot. also just wanted to add that I have posted on my profile page another hobby of mine, I do animated videos. I put the first chapter to my series on my profile page, its titled ' the Protectors' I designed all the backgrounds, the characters and even did all the voices and dialogue with a morph program. Its a second hobby that I do for fun. If you care to take a look, its on my profile page. this one is the first scene so it gives the background to the story line. thanks again Paul for being so kind and encouraging me about this painting being entered in the contest.

A well produced image using your memory and digital painting!
How realistic it is I don't know, because I didn't know the original! However, if you're happy enough to post it, it must be a good representation.
You've made him look friendly,lively and full of character, with a sparkle in his eye!
The best dog I ever had was a Border Collie, and I was devastated when I lost him.
Well done to produce this lovely painting1

thank you mudge. I'm really not happy with this painting, I just couldn't get the detail I wanted but I entered that contest a few months ago and had to post something so I put tis painting in. My daughter was happy with it but as far as the quality of work I think it's lacking a lot! If you saw something in this that I could improve on please let me know because all critiques are extremely welcomed from this artist at least. that's how I learn. a new set of eyes can always spot something that I may have missed and make a world of difference in one of my paintings. that's the advantage of digital art, it's easy to change something if it's not right. also I can tell you know what it's like to loose a very much loved pet, Border collies are such beautiful dogs, sorry for your loss also.

thank you so much for your review. I also want to thank you for being the only person who explained why they scored the painting a 5 instead of a 6. I have to admit that I too wasn't a fan of digital art at first. I thought that most of it was more or less cheat work that the computer program did more of the work than the artist. but when I was introduced to the program ' twisted brush' I was hooked., however. between you and me { and fanart members who read this LOL}I know there is much more talent in traditional work than digital so I appreciate your honesty. I do however also do animation in 3D work and have put together a video called 'the protectors. I have the first part of it on my profile page if you care to take a look. again I do appreciate your review . thank you so much

thank you again. if you want to download a few trial versions you can go to http://www.pixarra.com/ and get a 30 day free trial, of twisted brush, that's the art program I use. the animation is from I clone https://www.reallusion.com . they also have a free version to download. that one is a blast. Let me know if you've had a chance to see some of the programs. I still feel the greatest talent is traditional but I'm having fun LOL thank you for the compliment also

I can't thank you enough swimmer for the compliment you just paid my work. I wanted to use the fade out for the body instead of showing it. I used a filter to fade it out, compared the two and I thought this one seemed to blend better because the full part of his body had really no detail. I tired to add as much as I could but that part of his back was just fur, no muscle lines for detail so I went with this. I deeply appreciate your input and still giving me a 5 star review on this. this is the type of reviews I always appreciate, thank you again swimmer and please always let me know of anything in my work that your eyes see that could use some change. I can't thank you enough

thank you Lorraine. I haven't seen you on the site in awhile. You're the main person that helped me with my 3D programs and I learned a lot from you .
