MK, there are some wonderful, generous people on this site. I love them. But today I am discouraged. I don't feel like drawing anymore. You are a kind wonderful man. Your work is wonderful. Thank you for your concern, and friendship.

oh great pencil artist i have learned one thing..an artist enjoys praises but really needs words of encouragement to press on and always try to surpass the previous post..now i know this sounds corny but is so true. one mans trash is anothers treasure. we as artist is face with sooooooo much in life that it can be easily discourage. im a promoter from way way back when i promote my artwork by word of mouth i can tell by the reaction of people if they are interested are not..if not the mention is there and i leave it alone. when i hit that hotbutton of someone showing interest i throw them some more till i can tell they are getting bored and i leave it alone. my own family is like dad can draw..good luck kind of thing but that doesnt discourage me..that is not counting other events in ones life that take them away from the thing we like to do..create art. after about the last decade i would get pissed over not being considered for things for whatever reason and to think to myself..why bother? like being ridicule and turned down by the diamond committee twice(i have come to accept its a club that they dont want me in but im cool with that)..hell it wasnt till about a decade ago before my medium was finally acknowledge as an art medium...but i look back see what i have accomplished..i got my work in the sharpie sponsored video "purple" that was aired on mtv movie awards in sept, 2012 that will be forever be in the archive. i was contacted by rl smith. the sponsor of the drag racing society and was considering to make a funny car that would be shaped like a sharpie pen and wanted me to make posters for the concept. it fell thru due to sharpie didnt want to sponsor the car.also hooked up with a writer that i got paid for the artwork and is now published(wooohooo)i have numerous contest outside FAR well here on the site whenever i do participate. i have done some logos for a few businesses..now working on music videos to attract the music industry..finally got my 1st bite and will be working on that one soon..heck of all things me a sharpie/bic artist to be in the top 5 for the last 6 years above all mediums..who'd thunk it right? i see many pencil artwork..yes they r good in many ways but your realistic captures with perfect shading that is a rarity that is seen and a talent that should be shared. i have learned that the art world is like the movie industry..trying to find that lucky break is a rael bitch. millions of artist wannbess and the digital age sorta makes us dinosaurs. my biggest inspiration and idol is Norman Rockwell. he lived in a small town in new england doing all kinds of odd jobs to support his family but still pursued his work of art locally. when he was considered to do the cover of the saturday evening post he was 51 and almost not got the job. many on the staff considered him to be a illustrator than an artist(what the hell is the difference right?) but after his 1st cover appearance the public loved him and the rest is history..he never left his lil small town and work for this magazine till the day he died some 20 yrs later. what made him so unique is he captured the everyday life and emotion in his works. after so many generations long after his death he has become an icon for art and style that appears in so many department stores and other retailers. did you know that he was the one who invented the polar bear with the cocacola bottle in hand..if you havent viewed his work i would encourage you. he was scarecrow of man with a pipe in his mouth in real life. according to local townsfolk he was a quiet man who was very polite...he makes me wanna be the better man like him..i guess im to mouthy on that part..wink. one of my daughters asked me if i wanted to be famous..i said no i just wanna get paid!..lol. truth is i may never get the fame that i have been trying for but i am hard headed enough and have the faith to keep trying. i dont want to go to my death bed one day with a woulda coulda shoulda statement. i like the motivational statement that has rung down so true thru history.."if you think you can you wont..if you know you can you will"...now if this talk dont work ill scare ya with me wearing a girls cheerleader outfit and give ya a cheering..(my god the site of that even scares me..evil grin) DON'T EVER STOP BELIEVING! wink

I think your passion and faith is shining through this wonderful piece of art. It is a drawing with strong visual impact, and mostly because of the stain of blood. It is very effective. Then of course you drawn a very expressive and suffering face, but at the same time you see peace. The all dark background makes the body of Christ stand out in a very good way, and also a great contrast to the pale body.

Especially the face is so detailed and with great shadings and strong contrasts because of the very good use of high lights.

The composition is different but very creative, and I think your drawing is well framed and it also has a fine balance between positive and negative space. Indeed a beautiful and well done drawing Linda, and I wish you luck with the contest.

Dramatic and so real!! As we are just past Easter ... but this is for all time, every day!
Drawn from a photo - wow... a great drawing!!
Placement, I like this in lower half - symbolic...
Beautiful shading, beautiful lines - but agony, agony for us ... so clearly shown!!
His Blood, shed for us!
Through His blood... the only way to...

Thank you for your witness through drawing!
Best to you in all!

What a spiritually evoking piece Linda. The red is so dramatic against the white body. The details in the face and hair are in such a nice contrast to the almost blanched body of the (for now Lifeless Body of our Lord). Fabulous work Linda ~ Steve

what a stunning portrayal of this scene. the black and White make it more visible and less gory. I did one this Easter of him carrying the cross but it was too hard for many people to look at, this one sends me to tears to think of what he did for all of u.
stunning as always Linda

This is a very good drawing, I just started doing graphite, which is something I always wanted to be able to do. I love the detail in his face and the position of the neck and head, I sometimes have trouble getting the right position. You did very good shading and highlighting on this piece. Great job

I love it!! The way you have portrayed this brings the red out very well. Excellent detail in His face. But, the eye is drawn to the red. Well done. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing.
