Dear Annie,
I am writing this review,
mostly to congratulate you for winning the Contest.
I also want to thank you for sharing this picture. I am not a mixed media specialist, but I have to say, whatever you did here, feels natural and "just right" to me. Your picture is super interesting at the first place. I looked at your photograph several times: I feel, something magic and supernatural is concentrated there. The clouds, gathering thicker, and the sun, coming down
( which you skilfully hid behind the church ) are signalling to me about some Miracle, which is about to happen there. What kind of Miracle is a mystery to me. However, If I got such a strong feeling of it, looking at your picture, perhaps, this is a tiny part of that Miracle.

Thanks you so much for the congratulations. The feeling you are writing about is the same I had when being on this place. Especially at sunset. It is very close to where we live when we are in Greece, and we always go back to this place. O also think this place is very dear to the locals.

Well it seems you and Sir Neil had to hike a bit to get to this ancient beauty. Agia Sophia is a byzantine church, dated on 1614 A.D., one of the oldest churches in the region.
It amazes me how the built things that last to this day.
I like the moody sky, lighting, textures, architectural details and amazing gold and green of the landscape.
Impressive capture Cara!
Congratulations on 1st place!

Not really. The church is just sitting on a top of a hill just above from where we stay. Takes 10 minutes to drive there, and the road goes all the way up to the church.

This is such an intriguing photo of an active church in Greece.

Your composition with the ominous shadows and gray clouds are effective in rendering this church an historic one with many past memories.

The colors are earthy yet vibrant. The blues in the sky and clouds and distant hills is a perfect accent for these browns and golds.

Your clarity of detail is throughout the frame. Even though I must look closely to study it with the darkness ..I see that you have accomplished a successful capture from the get go.

A pleasure to view!!

Fantastic skies for this magnificent Church. This is a fantastic and extremely high, large and well built brick Worship place. Trees around are awesomely well place and very nice. Nice rocky ground with ferns here and there plus magnificent mountains far away. Colors are clear, bright and great. Centered, detailed and shadowed properly. Fantastic photo of this Church and great eye viewer.
Thanks for showing.
Congratulations and GOOD LUCK!
Have yourself a magnificent evening.

Close to the style of colored b&w picture ; great to see such dark effects in a sunny country like Greece. Sun through the sky has a special sulfur color, and is reflected in the rocks and grasses in the foreground. Church in black stones (created by the shadow or natural?) Strong sky effect.

A beautiful picture if the Greek Church in near silhouette against the rising /setting sun that colours the sky below the clouds with a golden hue above the sun, the pearl grey clouds are fanned out across the heavens with glimpses of light seen in the gaps between them. The church beautifully framed by the olive trees & the small building on the left. Artistic composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
Good Luck in the Contest
Susan
