Modern apartments in an old bakery

This nostalgic blue-background-letter type is something you find back on a cookies mark in my country as well. You also see it on French soap that uses the old letter type. The building with bakery inside comes out with nostalgic (looks like a bit filtered) colors, as well as the gray sky that looks a bit like at any moment a thunderstorm could break out. Colors and lines give it a strong dimensional view.

Thank you. The lettering on the building was restored from the original that was there and weather beaten .

What a pleasure to view! Especially along with your artist notes. Great stories to share with us. Thanks for those. Love the bag of broken cookies cost! I lived close to a small grocery store and remember quite well what we could get for a nickel...even a movie!

Your camera settings worked well for this scene. The clarity of focus must be there in order to post process what you have and still have a great composition. The writing on the walls and each individual window..the RR crossings..all bring the vintage story to life.

Your coloration is a bit vintage as well..a nice choice. None of the colors are over saturated, which is crucial to sustain your clarity.

The framing of the scene is just right. The sky is unobtrusive in texture and color. I like that. Your green lawn left in the frame is minimal and just enough to set off the scene.

It is fun to imagine living in these apartments...full of such history. I hope your village approves as well. A pleasure to view!

Thank you. It sat empty for many years until a nonprofit organization bought it an restored it for low income families and individuals. This is a commissioned piece that will eventually will be displayed in their corporate office.

has a vintage feel to this, looks a great building, funny how some buildings get a new lease of life, where as others get knocked down, sometimes it shows a lack of understanding by developers, well taken photo...brian

The color tone that you have used on this photo gives it a true vintage appearance. Everything about this piece is perfect. The way you have photographed this building adds a sense of drama.

This is a commissioned piece for the nonprofit who owns it. They want this for their corporate headquarters. I plan to take several more with different light and sky before deciding on the final photo.
