A great capture that is executed with optimal camera settings to allow for ample detail and interest in the patterns and even folds of the wings. The dotted design the butterfly wears is a strong compositional element that both creates a leading line as well as repeating patterns; both of with draw and holds our eyes on the image. The pink flowers offer a nice / natural backdrop as well as further compliments the image with additional texture. Well done. Kathy

I know this butterfly is not easy to photograph because the black is reflecting the light which makes it complicated to archive good sharpness. Your focus was spot on. The pattern ant the texture of the wings is well defined and I see the antennae. The color of the shallow background emphasizes the Black Swallowtail well.
