Let me guess that this is Tromsö? I have been there once in summer... The strength is that you use only less than one 6th of the picture to be the "ground part", but with enough elements of city and bridge, a good balance in my opinion.

I LOVE the contrast of the greatness of the Aurora with the city lights in the lower portion of the photo. I gave this 4 1/2 stars because I think the Aurora could have been a tiny bit more crisp, but over all I adore this photo not to mention it's my namesake.

A great entry for the contest Fred. I really enjoy your scenes of the auroras. This one is very vivid and the lower lights make a nice frame. Best of luck in the contest ~ Steve

I really appreciate your explanation. This is a beautiful site. I hope I get to see one someday in person. Looks like the divine is coming to earth. Great photograph! Love the tiny strip of the city on the bottom border. Good luck in the contest!

What a perfect photo for this contest! Great job capturing this miracle of nature. It is truly magical and humbling. the flowing lines and lighting are beautiful. I like the cropping and how you've included the scene below to illustrate the size and scale of this phenomenon. Nice job!

STUNNING!!!

Just magical color you've captured here. What an unusual and yet perfect entrant for the 'green contest' I love how you can see a few stars here and there just poking through that amazing green light.

Is that a bridge along the lower edge of your photo?? Were you in a boat?? If you were...well, boy this must have been magnificent to see overhead.

Really nicely done and best of luck in the contest.

Deborah

What a wonderful shot. We rarely get to see this here in New Hampshire and when we do, it's really rather faint.

Love the addition of the bridge in the foreground as it provides a nice "scale" to show how hugh the borealis is.

Awesome!
