Lise this is really a lovely catch and isn't it fun waking up early in the morning to get that perfect photo.
The haze rising off the lake is very delightful to see as it creates that special mood, it's atmospheric. There is some hot spots in the sky but heck our eyes see bright spots like that, so why not our camera.
I wish I could say something to give you constructive suggestions but there isn't anything to add.
The photograph has been well composed, next time try playing with more sky/more earth and try to avoid a mid slice because the brain interprets that as boring, but here I feel you did the right composition due to the symmetrical balance of elements (trees, sky patterns).
Nice one...I can hear the loons.

yes the loons,,there was one always fishing lol, Since I was on my way fishing and you must get up early if you want to catch fish in the morning, I took tons of this beautiful morning,,,I have others that I will eventually post,,thanks so much especially since I was not allow to edit this for this contest,,,thanks for liking it

I like this scene. The rule of thirds is very effective here (foreground, mid photo and top part of sky) is very eye pleasing. The mist over the lake adds a dreamlike quality. Very nicely done ~ Steve

Just looking at photo makes me smell the fresh cool morning air. Yesterdays warmth and the mornings coolness have conjured the mist on the water to greet the day. The glow of the rising sun behind the clouds promises another bright warm day.

A beautiful sunrise. I love the mist on the water.
Perhaps the reflection of the sun is a little bright, resting a distraction, but the image is still very lovely. Focus on the tree line is sharp and the image is nicely framed and well exposed.
