This deserves to do very well in the competition! All aspects are sharp and I just wonder whether you used focus stacking to ensure the whole fly is sharp. If not this is really impressive showing great camera skills. A pleasure to view.

all my pics are sooc with only minor modifications like cropping, leveling: no mixed media;
for this pic I used an aperture of 16: it was enough to get a sharp capture on a few mm

A very nice capture of this Green Bottle Fly. The iridescence is clearly visible as are the hairs on legs and back of thorax. Great contrasting colors of greens with the red eyes. For being a pest, they are certainly beautiful. Well done Fred and best of fortune in the contest ~ Steve

Wonderful capture, great view of this dirty, nasty disease carrying worthless fly. Pardon the dislike of the fly. I lived next to a farm and they were everywhere. Your fly is so well presented and details are super sharp and well lit. I just hope after taking the shot, you willed it. :)

The fine detail of the inside of the stapelia is amazing .every line and hair . than the dark throat .

Wow...what a macro shot! The fly seemed friendly to you. It did not flee while being captured.

Focus is great. The green fly's details are noticeable. Even the "hair" of the flower is easily seen.
