I dont know to say wow or yuk! I love the pictures of the fly's (their metallic looking bodies make for interesting images. Hat's off to you Fred - I would not have been able to capture this one or at least look at it upclose in post processing. You get a 5 for courage. LOL

The detail is astounding. What a great capture with a quick moving insect. The color is beautiful. I am not into insects really but the patterns, details and colors are mesmerizing.

It's sad how many people focus only on how 'gross' flies are. They are quite lovely creatures. And look how this one cares for her young. There's more to flies than most people realize.

I have never seen a photo of maggots. Or have I seen a fly tending to her eggs inside a flower no less. Great details. Every little disgusting maggot can be seen. Fantastic

A remarkable shot. I think that only the social insects, bees, ants and termites, have maternal instincts. The rest just lay the eggs and take off. Could be wrong about that. In any event this is an unusual sight that is captured in fine detail and great color.

Fred,
A beautifully taken picture of the iridescent Green Blow Fly checking on its all too numerous
off-spring gorging themselves on the Stapelia Flower soon to pupate & then hatch & fly off, search for another Stapelia flower or rotting meat. Though we hate flies they do have their place in Nature. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & a "closed Nose" with sharp focus.
Susan

This is an interesting image. The focus looks great and the composition really works. However, there is too much detail lost in the shadows. Some selective editing to bring up the light would work well.

Thank you so much for sharing.

Another great scene of the flies that are attracted to this plant.

The plant is a great place for a study of their behaviors and life cycle.

Nice reflection of the iridescent colors of the fly.
