A Fairy Tale

My first thought before I saw your notes was how this image gives off a fairy tale feel, so your intended impression worked! I like the ornate design of the gate and how well you created the entrance to the tree. The light yellow outlines give those characters a magical appearance. The flowers and butterflies are a nice touch too.

Well, the rabbit was there, but already rushed by. He is always in such a hurry.
Thank you very much for your humorous review!

Nice detailed image with lovely colors and contrast. I like the dappled lighting on the leaves. Your lighting and exposure are well controlled. Good story telling ability. Am wondering why you shot this image with four exposures? Not being a big fan of central composition is the reason for my 4 1/2 star rating other than that its a nice image and well captured.

Regards

Thank you much for your kind review and your input.
You understand my comments wrong. Those are not four exposures of the same image, but for very different photos taken in the previous two years. [Forest, butterfly, historic building, flowers]
The reason for the centering is that the space beside the tree stump is needed for the fairies. Do you see the outlines of the male-fairy at right and the girl-fairy at left? They have to be there to illustrate the original story. Unfortunately, the story is way to long for the artist comments.

Thank you for revising your rating, but that is not the reason I explained.
It's not the rating which count, but your intention to be helpful.

I understand that Cleo. But knowing the work that went into it does make a big difference......

The title gives mystery to the image which I like. Beautiful little piece seems like something out of a fairytale. The green vegetation which seems overgrown gives a scary appearance and the black opening around the gate does the same. The pink flowers adds perfect color and innocence.
The iron gate surrounded by rock adds to the mystery of who lives there. I don't think I would ever go through that gate if given the opportunity but it sure is an interesting piece. I can picture it as a book cover.

Don't worry. Go through the gate of fantasy. It is the entrance to the world of the wee folk. Fairies, pixies and brownies will welcome you.

Thank you very much for your kind review. No, this place is not real. This is an illustration for a fairytale. It is a mixed media collage made from 4 very different photos.
Comment from Life is but a dream.

I get a feeling of being tangled by green bushes as we hike through unknown terrain. Suddenly a door is found in the middle of nowhere and although closed, it beckons.

This could be a metaphor for life...it's pleasant aspects represented by vibrant greens, life, butterflies, flowers still our curiosity draws us to the forbidden, the dangerous, the dark....yet we will never know for sure unless we have the courage to enter!

I am quite taken with your ability to use ample layers and do know who you are for your artistry is the best.
