This is very dramatic and a real scene stealer. I love how you did this with graphite on sepia paper. It is a magnetic portrait and there is so much expression in this face. A wonderful work of art and a great entry for the contest. Good luck.

This is stunning...I love the sepia tone because it lends itself to the feeling of this being a woman in the 70's...when it was all about peace, love and freedom of expression. Beautiful lines, shading...all are perfection.

An interesting pose for the portrait and so much detail in the scarf and blouse. Good use of sepia paper to create a timeless artwork. :) Mary

Gorgeous! Wow! How many interjections can I think of to describe my impression of this work of art!
Your choice to use Sepia paper for this particular, vintage subject, was an excellent one. It is as if under a warm light of the sun.
Your proportions are perfect...that is very important when drawing a human figure. Yours is flawless. Your details are clear but blend nicely into your overall scene. Shadows and light have been applied as if taken with a camera! Perfection! Good luck!

a fantastic portrait in sepia tones here with a great side on pose that has a good chiaroscuro technique being used to create depth in the piece along with a subtle sepia characteristic behind the piece..its a corker and i wish you good luck in the contest

A very attractive portrait design, I think you have done a wonderful job on this difficult tissue as it looks perfectly real in style and transparency of the material - I love the placement of the lady in your frame, a great side position, excellent shadow and light application, on her skin, awesome detail work on hair - I think the simple background lets her stand out very well
excellent composition, the sepia hue fit her very well , great contest entry, all the best of luck

Thanks, Sange.
Comment from Life is but a dream.
Sepia, another time, another place but a woman with a story, of a life lived with pizzazzz.
Perfect format, tall portrait giving her the nobility she carries so well.
Your art? Well, you are top of the shelf on this site...from the details of her clothing, the bandana, the depth and tonal quality to her hair and the shadowing (your smudging) is sublime.
I also find your composition with more marginal space on the L versus the R excellent...for because of that treatment, we too look out with her and can only imagine what it is she is seeing. We are engulfed by this portrait.
