That's interesting, isn't it? The Imperial Japanese held chrysanthemums in very high regard too! I'm finding lots of weapons (especially WWII combat aircraft! ) named after one type of Mum or another! : )

I wanted to include something about the Japanese love for the flower too but hate to overwhelm reviewers.

fascinating about the WWII combat planes Sean. Imagine a pretty flower name used for fighter planes!

It was a big Power Symbol to them I guess,Deb!
They probably thought that us naming fighter aircraft after things like wild horses was weird too! : )

    'I hear that',Deb! : )
I probably wasted a lot of effort with the notes I put together for my Halloween Contest drawing! BUT I enjoyed writing them so I guess it's 'all good' as the kids say!

: ) Thanks,Deb! I've always enjoyed detailed notes ( Your's are always great! ) but,as we've talked about before, some people here just can't be bothered even reading an image's title let alone the notes! : D

Lovely rendition of this flower. It has a lot of impact with the close crop and the lighting takes it to the next level with very good detail. Makes the flower that extra bit special.

Yes I am familiar to the spider mums and I do prefer this part of family. This is a wonderful study of flower head in perfect angled placement boosting the structure and make-up with perfect light positioning.Focus is faultless to me. Very impressive.

A beautiful shot of one of my favorites to photograph. You have guided the light just where it belongs and your angle of this flower shows the petals and their density nicely. This is a flower just waiting to pose for pictures. You have a wonderful one here!

wonderful chiaroscuro technique used in this composition and thank you for a very informative description of the flower itself..always beneficial to the viewer who knows very little about the flower itself and oh what a beauty it is..The lighter tones permeating from the darker depths of the flowers core are particularly inviting as they reach an explosion of light very much like that of a firework..very apt for this time of the year I would say..well done ..great pic, beautiful creativity

An artistic presentation of chrysanthemum using light as a means for telling a story that is the identity of the flower.

Well done and thanks for sharing.

Didn't expect anything like this growing in the cold weather up there. I can appreciate the depth that you got out of this mum and the highlight that you gave it. It looks like a wondrous flower. Very beautiful indeed.

This was taken a month or so ago Mama-M. Believe me there is nothing growing in my gardens this time of year. Everything has been cut back, hauled off and mulched. Put to bed for the season so to speak...lol... Thanks so much for taking the time to check it out though. Do appreciate it.

Clearly a gorgeous flower and beautiful photograph! Your teasing macro composition works very well in the way it goes from shade to light. Exposure and sharpness are very good. Great shot in my opinion!
