I just love it when people see the artistic value of something like this Grace. I don't really 'see' the face but love these huge gnarled roots.

Excellent focus...crisply showing details of both the tree trunk and the roots. Your photograph clearly shows the texture of the wood....rough in places...smooth in others.

Exposure is just right and crop is good too. Not a huge fan of B&W but artistic choice and it actually gives your photo a 'feeling' I think. Nicely put together all around and good eye on your part for seeing the photo here. Like it a lot.

Gnarled & entangled.
Withered & dried, this tree symbolizes a steadfast determination & wisdom.
Impressive b&w rendition. Excellent tonal range. Nice features & textures. Good lighting & framing. Thanks for sharing...

A very interesting tree root. B&W works very well here, with the tones accenting the various textures. Roots are a favorite subject of mine. This one is awesome!

I love the roots as roots and while I can see how one might see many things that are functions of their imagination I like this one at face value. Best of luck in the contest.

Yes, I think I can see what you mean! Those knots and holes do resemble "eyes". Your image has appropriate composition, it's well exposed and sharp. Nice work!

We have relatives that live in Coon Rapids. Small world. The conversion of the shot to B/W is well done. You have captured the shade and shadows to give the scene a great sharp as you captured the DOF. The focus is pin tiny roots as well as the aging bark. Good luck on the contest.

Yes, small world! My daughter lives in Coon Rapids and I used to live in Michigan - really like the UP. Thank you for the review!

Black and white to me makes certain photos become more emotive.
I like that you saw the "artistic" value in this very old tree trunk with strong roots.
Nice focus, crisp details, controlled exposure and nice black and white conversion with fine contrast.
Good Luck ;)

a neat b/w for the contest.
as the river took so much soil away to expose them. a look you hardly ever see in this state.
interesting as a animal may use it for shelter. thank you for showing. good luck.
