Well..I just finished writing a thorough review and our internet went down. So now I don't know whether to start over or expect you to know what I wrote...LOL!

I think this is an outstanding entry for this contest. The action you have captured is not only the human action but the action of the water. You have used the natural light and shadows well. The white balance is controlled and we can still see the features of your subjects face. Excellent clarity overall.

What is happening with the water is my favorite part. Your reflection of the subject is very much a part of confirming the action. And the curve of the wake that is trailing diagonally into the corner is artistically accomplished to balance your frame...with your subject just shy of center. The right frame is indicative of the size of this wave. I think this is a amazing capture...unedited! Good luck!!

Thanks for the review of this image. Oh how I wanted to "fix" things that could be easily done. But on the other hand I think we can all get too comfortable shooting with the idea it can go to the IU unit (photoshop) and be brought back to life. It makes us better photographers in the field if we think "get it right in the camera". So these are good contests to remind us of that once in awhile.

With that being said, I would have cropped a little from the left to move the subject more off center. I would have changed the white balance so it was less blue, and I would have sharpened the surfer and the wave.

Sorry you lost your first edits, don't you just dislike that!! It is really hard to start over again, and then it is not the same as the first spontaneous effort, so thanks for doing it twice!!

You are most welcome. And you got it perfect...spontaneity... once lost is hard to match. But I do love this! Editing...yep..a new photographic art. I just try to understand that it is overdone by many and used with finesse by a few. Good luck!
