Fred,
A beautiful & very interesting aerial picture of the crater lake with an island in it & another crater lake on the island? The details visible are amazing. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Oh just perfect notes here sg....and so interesting too.

You must have been in a helicopter or plane when you got this shot....unless lol you are keeping a big secret and have sprouted wings! So the center portion is the top of the volcano and that is in the center of a lake, yes??

That's what it looks like at any rate from your photo. Isn't that just the way it is w/ the most picturesque places also be the most dangerous!

Interesting bit here today sg. I like it!

Deborah

a very interesting story to read, sorry to hear about the lose of life when it erupts.
neat to see the lake as it mast be leaking in as it looks like the same tidal height. a pleasure to view.

I guess it is quite common for the caldera to fill with water and form a lake at the top of a volcanic cone, but I don't know of one where the continued volcanic activity created an island like this. It is a remarkable phenomenon and a beautiful shot.

Wow..what a point of view and perspective! Where was it taken? I once was there (the small lake) riding horse. A very tiring but exciting riding. Thanks for this reminder...:o)

You are one member that teaches not only how to take great photos but what the meaning of the photo is all about and for that I appreciate your uploads.

Photographically this is a good aerial view of a lake within a lake...good idea in panoramic format.

Hi supergold

The blue haze across this panoramic image is what makes it special. It is quite a lot to take in and a bit breath-taking to boot. Thanks for sharing this! R

I do hate to say this but sometimes helicopter or seaplane or whatever windows diffuse pictures we take. On my screen, the picture is very grainy and also fades out in the background - this is where the window seems to show up the most. your framing is very interesting: the effort shows to tell the most complete story with a picture, fascinating story. The framing is balanced in horizontal layers which I like. Thanks for sharing your interesting travels.
