Here in the UK I think it was about 10C on Christmas Day! Your shot has a good portrait composition, it's well exposed and sharp. Well done!

Very nice angle! Looks like you are sitting right next to him for nap time :) I like how well you captured the texture of his hair and good detail of his face.

rather Sumatran;
my preferd monkey, always very kind, not at all aggressive;
a good close up portrait of this resting "man of the forest" (meaning of the word orang utan)

    Thanks Fred, think I have a habit of spelling Sumatran incorrectly - they are amazing to watch we have three in zoo and Karta is expecting but as she has lost six babies so far everyone is hoping for the best with this pregnancy. :) Mary

    there are no more left in Sumatra;
    I had the opportunity to visit a rehab center for Orang utans in Borneo

It's a nic close up of this orangutan Mary, but I am afraid your focus is soft and you have some over exposure in the grass up top.
1/15 second handheld is not easy to do and for wildlife far to low a shutter speed.
Your settings should have been 1/2500sec with an f/stop of f/4.5
White balance and exposure bias needed to be adjusted as well.
Sorry Mary..I will never lie nor join the high five club here.
;)

    Thanks Sange, I appreciate your constructive advice and that you won't join the high five club :) First time out for some time as I have had health issues hopefully will be able to get out more during 2017 amazing how much you forget in short time :)

    I just never like giving less than.. but I can't say words like nice diffused focusing...One does not do that when shooting wildlife.
    I understand about illness..Was sick Oct- Dec 5 soon as the snow birds( people who run to do in winter) arrive. Pfft.
    My brother yesterday gets frustrated cause he forgot what I Taught him when we went shooting first week in Oct.
    1/15 is to slow and to take it handheld one has to be rock steady.
    Thanks for understanding..;)
    Wishing you a healthier year... Without that..There is no happy. ;)

Candid portraiture under shade.
Diffused focusing with nice facial features & textures.
Enhance eye clarity.
Compact diagonal framing with impressive fluffy hair.
Vibrant verdant backdrop.
Nice perspective & narrow DOF. Thanks for sharing...
