Ah the Icelandic Poppy is taking a bow after a rain shower. I like your Shallow DOF as she just pops into the frame. You have fine exposure and focus is great but I like to see it sharper on the drops and the petals in foreground.
I like the bowed pose of the flower which evokes a humbleness and elegance.
My favorite pose of a bird is when I can capture them with their heads down.
Nice work Doc...I have now caught up and reviewed ALL your work for the new year.

A very nice image with fine composition and beautiful colors. I think I might like a little more depth of field. Just enough to hold focus on more of the water drops.

Yes...that's a good point mm. When I took this photo I was concentrating more on how bedraggled this little flower looked and wasn't as careful w/ the rain drops....but I do agree..... I appreciate you looking at it. Thanks so very much.

Oh they are a tough little flower Nik. I'm sure they grow in the UK. This particular one was looking a bit bedraggled from the rain....they are usually much perkier but I thought it would make a nice shot. Thanks so much for checking this one out as well. I really do appreciate it.

The color of the flower is so vibrant. The beautiful muted yet brilliant green background makes the flower almost three dimensional. The detail of the droplets of water is incredible. Perfect focus and framing. Excellent job.

When I first looked at this photo, I knew right away it was yours. Your lighting, which of course can make or break a photo, is just perfect. The photo is neither underexposed or overexposed. Your placement of the flower itself...a tad to the right with its stem coming forward from the left is something that makes this photo striking especially since the flower itself is looking downward. The positioning of this flower within the frame gives it a purposeful look. The top notch focus with the blurred background accentuates it even more so. The raindrops on its pedals look as if they were painted on....which is totally awesome. The two main colors--pink and green (not to mention the dark spots in the background) contribute in making this photo a totally perfect one. I just love it. It brings joy to my heart when I look at. I feel as if I want to go outside and dance in the rain surrounded by these beautiful flowers with their heads pointed downward while I raise mine up to the heavens. WHAT a nice feeling that is. Thanks for sharing.

It's interesting how we become adjusted so quickly to each others styles isn't it Katharina. That may be one of the nicely descriptive reviews I have read in a long time. lol.....dancing in the rain...why I can actually picture it. This droopy little guy is usually a perky little flower Kathy. I remember thinking I had rarely seen the stem bent w/ the weight of rain before. I just knew there was a photo there so I completely agree w/ your analogy and review of it. Thank you so very much for having such a good look. I honestly do appreciate it.

The droplets have fit not only with the name of the flower...as they appear a bit icy. But they have also fit with this variety's name. I love that..Champagne Bubbles!
Your DOF has given a perfect backdrop for this lovely flower. And the curving green stem is placed perfectly in your frame..with just enough space on the right of the flower for framing! Yep..a Framer!! Thanks for sharing Deborah!

I just loved the name of this one too Becky. I'm a real flower-variety-name person as you have probably realized by now. LOVE that you called it 'humble' b/c when I walked up on this typically perky little Poppy looking so forlorn I just knew there was a photo there...lol....not just the flower but even the stem was heavy w/ rain drops...and bending. So the review fits perfectly. Nicely done....lol....but I always appreciate a well done review. The gold star definitely adds some sparkle to this little guy. Thanks so very much for that.
