Outstanding job shooting through a chain link fence! Who knew?!! =)
What makes the shot so
SPECIAL are those eyes with bonus catch light in both.
The pose is Regal and hi is truly in charge looking over his Congress.
I only would suggest smoothing out the background to keep us focused on just him.
Excellent camera techs Shadow!

Eileen,
A wonderful portrait of the elder male Baboon sitting proudly as he watches from under his jutting brow over his Congress of females the sunlight from behind him giving him a halo & hi lighting his beautifully groomed hair do! Artistic profile composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Quite an amazing animal portrait posted here! Like the angled, almost profiled capture in your fairly full composition. Your image has a very fine exposure and the image is sharp. Very good photo, well done!

A very nice shot. I like this perspective that shows his strong profile but includes both eyes with a fine catchlight in each. Beautiful light and excellent detail in the fur.

Oh Eileen - I do wish I had a 6 left! This is stunning! Your angle to the light hitting his temple is top notch. Sincerely, this should be used in a photography book to illustrate the proper effect of natural sun. Of coarse, everything else is perfect (exposure, dof, detail, color). But it's your eye for light that makes this a masterpiece. Kathy

OMG that is so sweet Kathy! I really enjoy doing everything as natural as I can and trying to keep with traditional photos this time around instead of mostly mixed media. Thanks so much Kathy from the bottom of my heart.

I had to come back and look at it again... The texture in his coat. Ge'ez laweez you nailed this one. If this were one of mine... it would be entered into a juried show.

He needs new shampoo. This is a great shot of this serious dude. The lighting is wonderful as it lights up his frizzy fur. The stern look in his eyes looks serious. The DOF is sharp and clean. The crop is perfect and background helps pop the DUDE.

hahaha, got that friz going on! The males all seem to look like this and females not so much :) Thanks so much gary!

Another great photo especially since you had to shoot around the fence. Focus is crisp and you can almost feel the texture. I love the blurred background.

What an outstanding shot you put together here Eileen.

I particularly like how you got it w/ the light falling on the front of his face. He looks quite pensive. Focus is spot on crisp and the detail...even the texture of his fur that you've been able to show is beautiful.

Natural looking color throughout. The little square format filled mostly w/ your Baboon's profile couldn't be better....and even in this profile position you showed a wonderful bit of light in his eye.

Looks like a well considered and definitely well put together shot Eileen. I like it a lot.

haha, I considered it by walking by twice before I found a good opportunity to shoot. Thanks so much Deb!!

well...lol...you DID consider it at least before shooting it.

You did a very nice job getting around the fence obstacle. This guy has such a pensive expression like he does carry the weight of the world or his congress :) I really like how well you brought out the texture in his fur.
