These guys have good camouflage! I like how the one is peeking towards the lens. And the feathers above their eyes make cute little eyebrows. I think you caught a nice shot with the lighting conditions.

This image has wonderful natural color over the entire frame. The thing that drives me crazy is their eyes... want them ... all four open. LOL I kinda see a bit of one on the right. (1/2) I Need eyes! Sorry. The detail is quite nice with fine looking bodies of these two. Wonderful natural color as well. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Debi, yep unfortunately being nocturnal birds your lucky if they open their eyes and with these birds when they are open they are hard to see LOL :) Mary

A cute & candid capture!!
Fine features & textures.
This should be cuter when illuminated well.
The more my failing eyesight needs to decipher the facial details as their eyes are closed.
Filtered illumination.
Ideal framing.
Verdant backdrop.
Nice perspective & narrow DOF. Thanks for sharing...

Thanks Dick, the facial features are very difficult even if the lighting was perfect as they rarely open their eyes in daylight and being a scrunched up face you just can't see them - even the professional photos have no better clarity than this when it comes to facial features. :) Mary

I don't know what to say but thank you for alerting me to the existence of this strange creature. Lighting is beautiful. Details of feathers are great. but the face/head are so unusual that i can't really make them out! Really love the light. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Paulah yep you can say they are not the prettiest bird around with their scrunched up face and they rarely open their eyes in daylight. Just thought overseas people might like to see the unusual bird :) Mary

I have never heard of these funny little creatures. i love them just from their name. And they are kind of cute too. It looks like they have beautiful plumage. I know aviary shooting has it own real difficulties. Really good job under the circumstances.

Thanks so much fotogran, cute might be pushing the compliment a little though - I guess all animals have their own cuteness though LOL Appreciate your feedback and rating. :) Mary

A very interesting creature,Mary! They sound like they have many habits that are similar to those of our Nightjars ( commonly known as Nighthawks ) here in north America!
And that's a good looking photo of this pair too,my friend! : )

Thanks Sean, actually reading up on them they are similar to Nightjars but I didn't know what they were so didn't use the comparison - glad you enjoyed viewing. :) Mary

To be honest, I think these things are a little... less attractive... then most birds hahaha. But, your photo of them is wonderful. I love the partial lighting and the depth of field. Very crisp image makes their feather look really soft. Good shot!
