Wow! This is a magnificent landscape and you have captured so much beauty. I like your perspective on this one and your long depth of field. Your focus and details so well defined. Your cloud formation is just an added bonus. Truly an awesome shot! A pleasure to view! Thanks for sharing!

Nik, this is just so beautiful!

The colors are exactly how I remember them when I was in Arizona... not Utah but the colors seem similar.

Wonderful clarity and that sky is just staggering. Great job.

You really know how to get the best part out of a landscape like this, and the distant fingers are indeed standing out well against the sky. I especially like the limited color pallet in this photo, and also your low POV.

Your photo is nice and sharp all the way through, and it is both fine details and textures to be seen in the landscape. Perhaps the sky is a bit too bright, but it is not blown out, and the cloud formations are lovely.

The photo is nicely framed and I like the foreground you have included because it is giving the photo a fine depth. It is a fine flow and balance in the composition, and it is also a truly lovely and well taken photo.

Great presentation, love the mountains formation, the way the wind has been sculpting the mountains, love the barre-nous look of this place, dry, looks like it would be a long way to walk, love the sky with layers of clouds

I think your basic concept, depth and perspective of the shoot is good.
I do think that the white haze across most of the image detracts from the natural earth tone coloration of the desert scene.
Overall a good idea, just visually, I do not know how else to describe it, it has that overcast hazy look across most of the image, which to me is a detractor to the flow from foreground to bluff in the background and makes this average photograph

Great shot! Love the depth of field and how sharp everything seems to be! Love how the photo has the step affect that walks you through the foregoing to the back! Do you use neutral density filters? Great work and thank you for sharing!

Thanks for your nice in depth review! I generally do not use filters.
reply by EagleEyePhotography on 12-Jan-2017
Your more than welcome! I only asked about the filters because I noticed the highlights looked a little bit blown out. Please don't take this as hostility or that it's not good. It's a great photo! I'm not to well with words. I was once a skeptic about any type of filter as well. I decided to try one out and it made a huge difference in the colors and exposures of my photos. I picked up a cheap set of filters (about $20) and I believe they work just as well as the more expensive ones! you have beautiful photos and please don't think I'm attacking you! Just bringing up an opinion! Best of wishes!

No problem. I do not feel at all that you are criticising me! I value your opinion and ideas. Maybe I should make the effort to start using filters!

Well if you do and you ever need a hand, just send me a message and I will be more than happy to help! Best of wishes!

I have not made it to Monument Valley as yet. It is on my next visit that way. I have seen Bryce and Zion. Need Monument, Canyonlands and Arches. It will happen...lol.

I really like the long DOF. Excellent focus and it shows the land well. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for your nice review! I hope you get to MV one day. I thought it was fantastic!

I think the cloud formation really makes this image but the overall depth shows the barrenness of the landscape well and the lighting is good. Nicely composed. :) Mary
