You've captured very nice detail and texture of this bird. I like how the pattern on the leg shows so well too. The plumage and the face are very interesting.

Great preservation of detail here, and the slightly obscured background of the grass helps bring out the bird even further. Great texture, and the title sets the theme of the photo even further.

Superb shot. Well detailed, as you have focused it perfectly..... Good use of light and balanced contrast here. I wish that whole background was blur....it's just my personal opinion, well done. Good luck there.

Very nice capture of this beautiful bird. The detail is very sharp and clean, very well exposed as thinking an overcast day and thank you for sharing your moment. May I ask where and the species? I have never seen one.

Thank you very much for your kind review and comments - very much appreciated. This was taken at a local small zoo in the UK. I believe it is an African grey crowned Heron.

Beautiful color and detail. Fine framing and initial impact value (that head!). Feathers are 'feathery.' It would have been great to get his feet and the tips of those tail feathers, that is the rest of his body, into the frame. Thanks so much for sharing.

Thank you very much for your kind review and comments - very much appreciated. I have to admit I deliberately left off the legs and feet as they were really unattractive and detracted from the upper image. However, your point is well made. Mike

LOL on why you left them out! I totally get that!

LOL! Love the title! And yes...it appears that this bird has spent a good deal of time on its coif! Not only the headdress but the face and wings as well. But that is all due to your excellent capture of the details...which have been sustained with your control of the saturation of these beautiful colors. I think gray is one of the prettiest colors when natural. You have it here! A pleasure to view! Thanks for sharing !

What a handsome bird! Never seen one like this. Your muted background truly accentuates those layers of beautiful feathers.

Wow, wonderful, beautiful colors and very detailed plumage. Maybe would have liked to see the whole set of tail feather, but this is the kind of photography i hope to one day do. Thank you for posting

Many thanks for your kind review and comments - very much appreciated. I deliberately did not show the full legs as they were rather unattractive and I felt detracted from the beauty of the plumage. However, your comment is well made and appreciated.

A grey Crowned African Crane with it's beautiful crown of fine hair like feathers, white cheek wattle red brow & chin bright blue eye & black top knot on it's forehead.. The rest of it's plumage is also very eye catching. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques 7 sharp focus.
