This is a beautiful little Sculpture and it is perfect for the contest.
You captured the detail of the carving and its colors excellently. Your capture is very sharp and it is clear that you focus was spot on. The most impressive is your lighting. It brings to our attention how special this hand carving is.. It is certainly worked in the traditions of the art in North-Eastern Europe. It reminds a lot of Vadder Christmas, Kistkringel and Knecht Ruprecht.
The stylized snow flakes are ideal. Most of the old European pictures I have seen show him located in a dark forest with glittering snow added.

Well no name needed to know whose work this is and you have exquisite taste. I think your little wood statue of Santa from Poland is wonderful. I love that it is hand-crafted and the angle the artist chose to show say so much....about time....the weight of not just his pack but time on him. lol...I get carried away...sorry

OK- your photo. First- your use of light and shadows to show your prized ornament is perfect. The bit of shadow on his face certainly adds to the overall effect. Crisp sharp focus...he is so well detailed from tip of his hat to the little wooden base. You've also shown the texture so nicely. I would know it was wood even had you not said so.

Seeing the snowflakes in the background makes me realize I could not imagine this photo now WITHOUT them. They are just perfect and also add a feeling to your little statue. I even like the swirl of the more solid star-shaped ones.

Obviously a very well thought out piece. Perfectly cropped and well exposed. I see nothing I would change and nothing I would want added or subtracted. You have shown your favorite little wooden ornament so perfectly that he deserves one of my sixes....easily.

Best of luck to you w/ him in the contest.

Deborah

As usual I love your use of light here. The Santa carved in wood has a humble look with his head down. I like the visual details and textures we can see in the wood.
Then the add of the magical wintery night background that makes this so special.
Beautiful work ....Good Luck!

The swirl of snowflakes is so pretty and magical with the delicate bursts of light. The colors and textures of Santa stand out well and have a lovely appearance too.

This is not just an ornament but a feeling of the spirit of Christmas and the magical season. Disney could not have done it better. The pixie dust swirling and the starry sky feeling is fabulous. Who ever carved the Santa does fabulous work. Good luck in the contest.

Santa is wonderfully carved and ever so wonderfully captured. He has fabulous detail, wonderful color and the lighting over the whole image is really quite grand. I really enjoy the background artistry and sparkle - really accentuates this image. Great entry for the contest. Good Luck. Thanks for sharing.

I can well understand why you purchased this piece. He is marvellous as is your image. This Santa looks as if he has just descended from the heavens and come to rest on a earthly landing pod. Well done!
