A great picture of this male Bullfinch with his eye catching deep rosy pink breast, black cap & blue grey back & wings with black & white flashes. Beautiful composition framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Many thanks Susan for your kind review and comments - much appreciated. I have to admit I wasn't certain with this one as its cap is definitely blue whereas all the images I found seemed to suggest a black cap. Mike

It depends on the way the light hits the plumage in some lights you can see the blue iridescence in the same way you do with the Magpie, who everyone thinks is black & white but in sunlight its iridescent navy/blue-green & white.
Today I posted a female Bullfinch & tomorrow I'll post her mate.

What a grand fellow, his color is wonderfully rich and inviting. Great placement in the frame as well. I think the focus is a bit on the robbed by the sunlight side but not enough to zing. He is amazing. Wonderful capture of that eye as well. Thanks for sharing.

A beautiful bird in a great natural setting. The light brings out his colors very well. It is unfortunate that the dark eye is all but lost in the dark cap.
