I love this. My first thought was a still from an old black and white movie. More on the British side. This man's character shows up so brilliantly with the black and white. I love the painting in the background.

Your b/w conversion is sharp and well defined. The lines of his face shows age and maturity. The concentrated glance down to something has him thinking about something. The crop and background works well.

great shot of this fella who is definitely concentrating on what he is doing. The black and white presentation is excellent and the structure following the rules of photography work well in this shot. Nice tones between the left and right side of the picture, dark and light...well don and good luck

A very powerful candid photo. This is how my dad looked when he was viewing his opponent's cards in a game of gin rummy.

A very nice look of concentration as though he was analyzing a chess board. I like the black and white presentation with its complete range of tones and excellent sharpness. Best of luck in the contest.

He is indeed analyzing a chess board.

A clear interpretation of the contest theme! Yes, he looks concentrated and serious. I imagine him playing chess and now is considering his best move. A Nice close up shot to emphasize facial expression.
Well done and thanks for sharing.

Very nicely done and I like the black and white presentation that omits the competition of color to steal from the subject. You have framed this in a very balanced way with head and hand evening out the space. I like the fact it appears to be candid and consequently natural. Very nice. Kathy
