A great entry for the contest i forsure was thinking about what kind of expression he had his look on his face makes you wonder it kinda looks like he was looking at something or he was deep in thought about something so nice job well done thanks for sharing best of luck to you

What interests me most is the position of his hand. What is it going to do next? Is he going to scratch his arm? It seems his elbow is resting on probably a table he's sitting at. Perhaps he's contemplating a chess move. Excellent focus and framing.

A subtle human emotion as in lightly concentrating in a chess game wherein he's confident enough he will defeat his opponent easily.

This is a very beautiful and interesting picture. The lighting, focus and composition seem perfect to me. Since the subject is the expression of your friend, this was a good choice to convert the picture in black and white to eliminate the potential distraction from the subject, in the background. This is a very beautiful and interesting picture. The lighting, focus and composition seem perfect to me.
