I really like the way you captured the sun on his belly and in the eye we see.

The framing is prefct and the eye level angle is very well done.

Bravo!

    Hi Steve,
glad you enjoy the sun on it as I did not think it would as it was on the other side of the inlet and not behind me.
glad you enjoy the framing as I did not crop much being so close.
still catching up as 6 more pages to go. :-)
thank you for viewing and your kind review.

Love the red eye. No idea what this bird is called, but he is handsome. I like the setting, light is great, his position is nice for the space. The movement of the water is peaceful. Nice shot.

    Hi sharolbatey,
glad you enjoy it, as it is a black capped heron as others chimed in with it.
it looks funny as most herons I see are close to 3ft and long legs.
glad you enjoy the photo as the inlet was very calm and no wake.
thank you for viewing and your kind review.

I like the reflection of the sun on the bird. It works well with the bluish tones, and makes the bird stand out more. Doesn't need much editing, a great photo with the subtle beauty of nature.

    Hi Andre Three Thou,
glad you enjoy the reflection as I did not think I would get any as it was mostly behind it.
glad you enjoy it as I just cropped it taking some water out.
glad you enjoy it as I missed another that I never saw before.

I hope by now you have been told what this is, I couldn't possibly say. It is a very regal showing of this proud bird who stands there awaiting your photo op. Great clarity, focus, depth of field and framing. Nice job. Thank you so much for sharing.

    Hi LadyMarie,
yes I do a black capped heron, as I had no clue never seeing one before.
yes it was funny as it did not move as I stood as it turned it's head as I think one eye was looking for baitfish for more breakfast.
thank you for your insightful review and viewing it.

Good position of bird with it slightly off center. Great job capturing the suns glow on him. I really like the fact that the background is almost black and white which really makes him standout. Nice job!

    Hi rgregoire,
glad you enjoy the position as I just cropped it a little.
I did not think I would get so much glow as the sun was more behind it.
when the rocks are wet they do look black as high tide was leaving.
glad you enjoy viewing it and your kind review.

Do you see what I see?......Sorry no idea . But this is a lovely capture. Lighting is just right. Nice composition framing, focus and dof. Thanks for sharing. Oh - I think you need to edit your "description" - looks like there might be a letter missing.

    Hi ChuckWaxman,
it was a new one for me, as I have more birds but seems I need to learn the other settings to get them clearer.
glad you enjoy it as it was early to take as I made my way back to shore.
I will take a look as I was away and see a bunch of catching up to do.
thank you for viewing and your insightful review.

This is one funny looking bird indeed, have never seen anything like it before! Great capture with fine details of the face and the beak. Nicely cropped, too; composition is definitely working. My only regret is that the photo is not as sharp as it could have been. Have you found out what bird is that, I wonder? Thanks for sharing!

    Hi Imagine Life,
it looks like it as it was a first for me to see.
I guess it sticks more to the ocean as I don't see them in the bay.
glad you enjoy it as it was a early morning shot for it.
I have heard that as they told me a few other setting's in Manuel mode as I took it in auto as I try to figure the camera out.
yes a black capped heron as it had more color than white as people said it should.
thank you for viewing and your kind review.

I am not sure what this is. Hopefully someone has already identified it. A great shot with good placement of the bird in the frame. The composition with the rocks and the water give a nice overall feel for the location and surroundings. Nicely done Ron ~ Steve

    Hi iPhone,
I found out by a few as I wondered what it was as I took it some time ago.
glad you enjoy the positioning as it was funny it did not mind I was so close.
glad you enjoy the surroundings as the inlet was calm and just wake water that early morning.
thank you for viewing and your kind review.

Definitely not a guy who hangs out at my place Ron but I have no doubt someone will have told you what it is.

That's a crazy red eye...lol. The natural setting is nice but focus on your bird is a bit soft. He needs to be crisp and sharp. Don't know if you use manual settings but that seems to be the issue if you do.

Nicely cropped....just some work on camera techs needed this time.

    Hi Deborah,
I guess not unless you are close to the ocean.
yes a few chimed in with it's name, Thank You.
as I had no clue being here for 40+ years and never seeing one.
yes it is pretty red like other birds I have seen here.
I had the camera about 6 months as the picture is about a year and a half old and wondered what it was.
I had no clue on setting's yet just turning the dial as I start learning from everyone's feedback.
as a photography class is in order for the spring.
I only cropped the top a bit trying to frame it in the 3rds as I try to learn.
I hope to get a class in as I should get a book in the mail from the local collage with spring classes.
as I do need a photography class and windows to learn the features and techniques needed to get better.
thank you for viewing and you kind review.

    Hi Deborah,
it ended 8 with the med. site but watched a movie and hade a bite.
just for other med issues arise so I did not log back on till late.
as I put a slight story up seeing a contest with a story.so I tried to sum up the last 4 years as I was trying to distract the body pains and get a view of how I started with taking pictures.
the true dedication was being a caregiver for my mom despite my own issues as I put them aside for the most part as I try to get back to that again.
    thank you. :-)
