Wow, words can not express every emotion I have when I view this. To see one of Patrice's colorful paintings in black and off white really focuses the attention on the eyes and details and not on the color. Comparing it to the painting is amazing. Love yours better.

A great eye-catching piece that at first caused me to have a startling reaction.
I really like the creativity you have used to create such a well done drawing. The very black sections of it make the face and hands really stand out.

Your work is incredible. I think this is breathtaking in pencil. You are so good at getting expression and emotion to show through the eyes. The poem is very good. Both deliver a strong impact. It is remarkable how you changed the rhyming cadence that is typical in a lot of poetry, and that the message is as powerful as the image. The poem meaning stays the same when I read the third and fourth lines of each stanza in reverse order to play with the cadence in my mind :)

I think it is one of the most challenging tests for an artist to produce a rendition of an work by someone else. I admire the attention you paid to detail. Your drawing does the original justice, but it is surely your own as well since your tools are different. Your drawing is skilfully done, it interprets the poem, but more than anything else it is the expression of this face which grip the viewer. The tears are at her face and hand, but she does not have any left now. Her eyes are dry. The child is young, but she has experienced to much sadness and maybe violence in her young life. She is far older than her years.
This portrait will linger long time in the thoughts of the reviewer. Best luck for the contest.

A beautifully & very skilfully drawn image of a girl's face with a look of horror in her eyes paint or is it blood flowing down the sides of her face & between her fingers & down her neck? Created with very skilful draftsmanship & knowledge of human anatomy.

A unique and creative drawing, the black and white has made it more dramatic and emotions. Good artists notes and poem that tell the story. Your photo has so much expression, I see fear in her eyes, and devastation all over her face. You photo makes us think and we just stare trying to figure out its meaning. An impressive art work. A pleasure to view. Thanks for sharing!
