very apt for the contest of flowing water. You've captured a nice symmetry to the structure of this presentation ,balances really well.Excellent clarity

    Hi Neil,
glad you enjoy it as I thought it was good but steep competition on that one.
thank you for viewing and your kind review.

It's interesting to see all that water flowing through a square opening. I like how well the back wave shows the force of the water gushing through the spillway.

    Hi Envision,
sorry a bit late as the pains had me with the weather swings.
yes it was pretty good but a few days of rain would be bigger.
yes it was neat to see as I have not been there in 25 years being out in nowhere as the pines cover 2,250 miles.

A very suitable entry for the contest. The focus is sharp and clear and the colors are nicely rendered. Just a thought here: By cropping on the top almost down to or even with the top rail of the spillway, and cropping in from the left and right to even with the two outside posts, and up from the bottom to where the white water stops, the scene would emphasize the beautiful flow of the water coming through the spillway and the white water produced. Just a thought. A very nice capture for sure. Best of fortune in the contest ~ Steve

    Hi Steve,
glad you think so, as I though it was a good shot of flowing water.
glad you enjoy some of the clarity showing the true color of the water.
thank you for the tip as I will see how it looks cropping it down as I was thinking of the 2/3rds rule.
thank you for viewing and your insightful review as I try to keep learning. thank you.

A very nice picture. I love the power of the water as it comes flowing through, like a miniature waterfall. An amazing photograph. Is there any fishing in Bamber Lake?

    Hi Imaginos,
glad you enjoy viewing the spillway.
yes it seemed pretty good after 2 days of rain as it would get stronger.
glad you enjoy the feeling of a waterfall, as there is no fish in Bamber lake as they don't stock it.
Thank you for viewing and your kind review.

Great shot of flowing water, looks like they actually can control the flow as well,, looks like this is a pretty fast moving creek,,love the perspective, looks like your in the water or are you on a bridge, nice and clear shot of this,

    Hi Lise.
    glad you enjoy it.
they could but that may undermine some low laying houses on the beach side or a few houses as it is about a 6 block area
around the lake before woods again. the spillway is fast as a big pool collects it and slows the speed a little more.
I'm on a small walkway bridge someone built as it was the first I saw it and no bridge 25 years ago.
but it did have new repairs so took away from the weathered look.
thank you for viewing and your kind review.

As is a good capture with good eye appeal. Your composition caught the desired action. 1/60th stops the water flow in its tracks. Try shutter priority @ 1-3 seconds or a Variable Neutral Density filter set at mid range. This will blur the movement of the water and give an impression of movement.

    Hi bpellephoto,
glad you enjoy view the photo.
I can understand the one speed , but is that f stops, and wondering at a variable neutral density filter.
as I'm still new to a lot of the settings and not sure about your suggestions.
as I will try to look them up.
thank you for viewing and your insightful review.
can you further explain in a reply post.

Fantastic capture - your detail is perfection so kudos on the focus! Great color and lighting as well over this spillway. The image has powerful characteristics. Nicely placed in the frame as well. Good luck in the contest and thanks for sharing.

    Hi momentsofjoy.
glad you enjoy it as I went out for the zoo but is small and double cages for the lions/tigers and bears oh my. :-)
glad you enjoy it as that pink rose I have is 10 feet behind me and was neat to see blooming in dec.
glad you enjoy it as you get the true color of the water in it as white clothes would look that color in 5 minutes.
glad you enjoy the power feeling it has as some days would be stronger as the creek is deep enough for fire trucks to get water on the main rd. for forest fires and deep enough with the constant flow.
as helicopters would use bags to collect the water for drops that are not accessible.
thank you for viewing and your kind review.

    Hi ChuckWaxman,
yes it seemed to catch the title well for the contest.
glad you enjoy it as it just stopped raining but rained again getting home.
the bigger view made it look grey like the sky so was a big factor to crop most of it out but save the natural colors.
thank you for viewing and your insightful review.

    Hi memephotos,
glad you enjoy is as it is the best fresh water one as the creeks flow but this is probably the most except when they drain cranberry bogs.
glad you enjoy the movement and power as it fills the small area before filling the bigger spot before going into a creek again.
thank you for viewing and your kind review.

This is an amazing capture! It almost appears to be a small structure showing the flow of water in a science lab. As your flowing water is quite dramatic in clarity and light and shadows...showing the exact movement. Your gray sky has added more drama yet...with the contrasting texture of the weathered wood dam. Excellent camera settings!

    Hi nature rules,
glad you enjoy it as I took a trip to a small zoo in town but the cages had me.
as there is 5 businesses in town but have to travel for milk or groceries.
it looks small but it is about 30 ft but sand is piled up only exposing 12 foot or the top rail.
that sounds interesting as it would be a good thing for kids to think about and try to make.
yes it does as about 18 inches is flowing but has a rail under it but shows the water color.
yes it was better to crop it as the lake had the gray sky look to it.
thank you for viewing and your insightful review.

your welcome, as it is neat about 20 miles inland goes into the bay as ones further seem to find the aquifer but you cant ride out in the woods anymore like we did 30 years ago.
yes some is pretty neat to go canoeing and seeing nature is a undisturbed area.
