TAMARAC Tree in the Winter

I can see why you like this tree. The snowy background enhances its position and the colouring draws the eye straight to it. The other trees form a natural frame and the narrowing perspective draws you round the corner to your garden. A pleasure to view Deborah.

it is just awesome how the colours of tamarac are just so vibrant, ours are just plain now as the leaves have all fallen,,but boy this is a great piece to show such splendid colour against the winter dullness, love this,,looks like a really interesting card of some sort

Great focal richness your Tamarac Tree is to pull us into the depths of this beautiful drive into Nature's Wintry presence. Love the lovely lighting, focal richness as well as overall composition.

Absolutely beautiful winter scene with snowy trees and road. Great color intensity and composition that pulls the eye right into the scene. And the small reddish- orange tree is a special treat for the viewers. Thanks so much for sharing this lovely photo.

hmmnn..well I go by what the loggers and fire wood guys say. They've spent their entire lives in the woods.....know every tree and leaf there is so..... Anyway sg....I always appreciate you checking out my posts and nice to hear one of them was interesting enough that YOU googled it!! Love that.

I checked because something didn't work in your description: when a tree changes color from gold to orange, it is obviously decideous because he cannot be golden again the next summer
reply by the author on 15-Feb-2017
It actually grows new leaves and as the summer progresses they get bigger and the old ones drop. Believe me sg- I have studied this tree a LOT!
reply by the author on 15-Feb-2017
and it's not a leaf like a Maple leaf...almost a cross between a leaf and what grows on a softwood.
reply by supergold on 15-Feb-2017
this is the definition of a decidous tree... !sometimes the leaves don't fall before the new leaves appear
reply by the author on 15-Feb-2017
it's NOT a true leaf anyway...not like on a Maple or Birch or other hardwood.

A beautiful shot in which the tamarack really stands out. I always thought they were nice to run your fingers through the soft needles. I don't think I have ever seen one that is so colorful. A great scene that is highlighted by the little larch.

I had never heard them referred to as 'larch' mm until another reviewer (from Scotland no less) called it that yesterday so I've learned something new about my fiery little tree. Thank you so much for having a look at this post. I always look for you at the end of a review of one of my pieces.

Gorgeous. The road leading us through the woods, with that brilliant spot on the left (lower third :0) is a great example of flowing composition. Depth of field is wonderful, sharpness and detail. the sky does have texture which is a bonus. Trees are straight up, road is curved and tilted, very charming. Lucky you!!!

Great shot capturing the little devil almost peeking out from behind the protection of the bigger tree. Good composition also with the offset shot and the long drive giving it depth. The grey whit sky blends well with the photo allowing the little devil to has its "moment" Nice job!

lol...the 'little devil' Just love that rg!! What a fun way to describe my fiery little tree. I bet I will never look at it again w/o thinking of it as the 'little devil' So not only appreciate you having a look at my latest post but especially appreciate you naming the tree it featured! Beautiful shot! You capture such a cold feeling in the sky, as well as the bit of snow. That tree just begs for attention, standing out so bright.
