I think this is or should I say "was" perfect for a girlie girls' birthday card especially if she loves the pink color. To me this looks more like a vibrant fuchsia which is a brilliant color when it comes to flowers. Fuchsia is a vivid purplish red color, named after the flower of the fuchsia plant, which took its name from the 16th century German botanist Leonhart Fuchs. Did you know that the color fuchsia was called fuchsine and the dye was patented in 1859 by the French chemist Francois-Emmanuel Verguin. Well, so much for my history lesson for the day...I JUST LOVE COLOR....what can I say. This particular flower reminds me of a carnation, which is my birthday flower....and I love to have them displayed in a vase in my home. They last such a long time especially if they are not red. Red flowers are amongst the first to die in any flower arrangement. A fresh bouquet of flowers weekly on my dining room table are always a lovely sight and lots of time a wonderful aroma. I bet these would make a beautiful addition to any vase in any home.
I love the close cropping and the blurred background. This is a lovely photo in all aspects.
Just thought I would let you know even though it has been a few days since you posted and ALL TIME BEST has already been awarded. Thanks for sharing.

I didn't know any of the reason fuchsia was called 'Fuchsia' Katharina but thank you so much for the 'history lesson' as you put it. lol I always love it when I can learn something new. PEONIES last a long time in the vase too although once they start dying they go QUICKLY and I find the petals all over the top of the wood stove (my spot for vases full of flowers all summer) I really do enjoy your reviews- ALWAYS- so thank you so very much for checking this post out....and for giving it such a wonderful review.

Based on our weather the last two days, these blooms are not that far away. We had 55 degrees and sunny. It has been a while. The lighting and the crop of the blooms give us a great feeling of summer and fragrant blooms.

My PEONY beds Gary are buried under a good 3'+ of snow lol....and the plow came in yesterday and added another 2' probably on top of that! GOOD LORD but it's going to be a struggle for them to look as good as this for a few more months I'm afraid. Do appreciate you checking this one out ...thank you so much....and 55* you say. I am very envious...to say the LEAST!!

I have heard that Vermont is getting dumped on. My sister left in early December before you got the brunt of the snowfall. She spends 13 weeks each year working in a hospital. She travels 9 months a years. We hope to visit her in October near Quechee.

That is just one of the best times of the year here Gary. Quechee south of me but all of VT is gorgeous. We got as much snow in just the past week as we'd had all winter....so, yes....tough week here.

This Peony is truly beautiful and I like that also a bud and a not yet open flower is included within the frame. The green and softened background is perfect for the deep pink flowers, and they are standing out from it in an excellent way.

Your focus is nice and sharp showing such clear and well defined details both in the flower and the bud, and the exposure is perfect.

The tight cropping works so well, and the flowers have got a very fine placement within the frame. Indeed a beautiful and well taken photo Deborah, and with an excellent DOF.

Lovely photo so bright and fresh you can almost smell the scent of the flower. You really captured the brilliant bright hue perfectly as well as the find detail of the petals on the large bloom and its nearby bud.

Holy Pink Peonies Doc!
Inline the sharp center and soft edges, the one big bloomer stealing the show while the other buds await their day to show off.
Fine tight crop, great focus, fine exposure and lovely DOF.
Beautiful capture Doc :)

Beautiful. I guess you would call it "Hot Pink". I didn't realize peonies were so similar to roses. My mother's nickname as a child was Peony. I like that you've included the different stages of how the flower blooms. Great focus and detail. Well done.

They are not all as full and lush as this one Gail. Lots of PEONIES are 'singles' or 'doubles'....this is a football one...lol What a great nickname that is btw. Do appreciate you checking out my post. Thanks so very much.

Excellent composition! Great shot with the little bud seemingly waiting for "its" big moment in the sun as the full bloom one shows itself off with its brilliant color. The muted green background really frames the flower nicely . Great Job!

Those are really beautiful peonies. This is a great shot. I love the various shades of pink and the green of the stems. The green background is nicely complimentary.

I put the PEONY beds all right up here by the house Imaginos just so I could see them even if I didn't happen to be outside. THAT'S how gorgeous I think they are so I could not agree more w/ your review! I do appreciate you having a look at my latest post. Thanks so very much.
