An interesting angle with the entire frame filled with this gladiator of yours. I have loved every one of your photos in your entire portfolio....yes I went through it and studied and read about each one of your posts. If I would have had my own computer, you probably would have received a review on at least every other one (smile). However, I find myself not so in awe with this one. I think it is the lower left corner how that petal is situated and somewhat blurred the space between that and the main focus of the flower.....oh...I am having such a difficult time trying to explain myself in English this evening. I do apologize that I failing miserably at what I want to say.....it is like that is another flower getting in the way of this one. Something is just not right....if you remove the lower left and just keep the pedal from the flower your a photographing, I think it would be tons better. I feel like just deleting this Review and starting fresh again tomorrow. Maybe my vocabulary will be better. Sometimes that happens....my native tongue gets in the way.

Maybe you can decipher what I am trying to say and reply back to me.
And perhaps play with this photo and make that adjustment. I love the lighting that presents itself within the flower itself and the lavender stamen. It looks like such a happy blossom trying to stretch out as far as possible to perhaps smell all the surrounding smells or take a taste of a raindrop that it hoping to get.
Thanks for sharing.
AND please know I meant no ill will with this review. Out of every and I do mean every photo you have ever posted, this is my only somewhat negative review.

Well Katharina I am very happy that you did not delete your review.. I actually understood exactly what you were saying and of course I know you meant no ill will by it. You should always be honest. You ARE exactly right in thinking it was another flower in the lower left....it was a blossom a bit further on down the stem. Although it didn't bother me w/ it being there I can see why you might find it 'distracting' At any rate, I DO appreciate you checking out my new post and always appreciate an honest review....and I thank you for both.

Excellent Gladioli closeup capture of your Gladioli pistol and stamen. Don't ask me which is which don't know. Petals are beautifully soft and enjoy the lavender color. Thank You for sharing.

Well here you go bunkie. The 'stamen' is the male structure (the shorter purple sections in this photo) and the 'pistil' is the female structure (the longer white center piece in this photo) The anatomy of the reproductive parts of a flower. lol...may have been more than you bargained for but there ya go! Do appreciate you checking out my new post and thank you for the lovely review.

My goodness...the colors in this are glorious. And what a lovely softness to your entire composition! You have accomplished with not edits what many of us use our filter for! Simple and stunning in every way! A definite framer!

PeglegDeb - After years of reviewing radiographs I have trained myself to review by starting in the center and working outward. I use the same technique for photos. I started looking at this and I struck me that this looks like something PeglegDeb would do. How can this be you may ask? Your method of lighting for a night shot is a wonder to me. Its beautiful. You put the right amount of illumination just where you need it, on the stamens. For which the detail is exquisite. But best of all is the way the light diffuses away unevenly. The petals are in soft shadows with detail that doesn't take command, so that the color can seduce the eyes.

The camera technique, lighting, framing ... etc is top drawer. I tip my lens cap to you, this a wonderful shot and I'd like to see more ... B-)) Bob

Oh I just LOVE that Bob...."I tip my lens cap to you" lol...so perfect! I read that last night just as I was shutting down or I would have answered then. And it's a wonderful review of my new post to boot. My night-time lighting 'methods' are really pretty low tech. A head lamp so I can see where I'm going and not trip over my rocks walls and a couple of heavy duty large square flashlights...oh..and my dog...lol...to keep the night stalkers at bay. I am quite flattered that you already recognize my work and thank you so much for the absolutely delightful review.

Oh my, this is a gorgeous flower. My grandma used to grow these as my mom told me. They grew so big. But my mom said she had never seen one this beautiful before. I love the blueish purple coloring. Blue and purple are my moms favorite colors. She says you have a magnificent flower there. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry to hear about your not-so-successful attempts at growing these beautiful flowers long-term. But I am glad you were able to grow this one long enough to photograph it. It looks really pretty.

lol...thank you Imaginos for the condolences but honestly- I have plenty of other flowers to keep me occupied. I may give 'Gladiator' one more shot in my gardens though. Do appreciate you checking out my new post and giving it such a lovely review.

An outstanding shot. If it were mine I would enter it in the flowers contest, but I guess you must have something even more lovely saved. The colors are fantastic and the stamens seem to glow with a light of their own.

Well look at that mm...Sat. evening w/ a gold star left! And you are such a sweetie to share it w/ me. Seriously....thank you so very much. I love this image but you never know exactly how posts will be received so to get this from you as the first review just makes my evening! As for contests...I never think of them until someone says "...you should have entered this in such and such" I should pay closer attention to contests. Thank you again mm....huge smile here in VT.
