Excellent choice of subject.
I thought 'twas Mel Gibson when I first glanced at the name...lol!

A NatGeo material with its dramatic illumination & obscured fine features & textures capture.
Typical of a rainforest setting.
Was this shot in captivity.
Looks wild!
Thanks for sharing...

This is the male half of the couple that reside at the MN zoo. I live in the city and don't get much chance to see anything this wild or exotic without going to a zoo. Too bad we don't have rainforests in MN :)
    Thank you kindly!

I thought it said Mel Gibson at first glance then! haha. Excellent shot, perfect timing capturing the full relaxed posture of the gibbon, and also emphasizing well the dexterity and balance these great animals have. Great focus and great colour contrast with the foliage background - love it.

Hahaha!! I wonder if Mel could ever relax that much! Gibbons are truly remarkably agile and balanced. They are fascinating to watch. Thank you very much for the high marks and your nice comments - and for making me laugh :)

This is the most laid back primate I have ever seen. Not a care in the world.

Excellent camera technique. Sharply focused with extensive DOF. Composition and framing are also on par. His face is so well defined. All his facial hair is distinct and well defined. Very Very good nature take ... B-)) Bob

Thank you very much! I thought it was pretty funny that they just kick back so uninhibitedly and high up in the air!

Well he certainly looks relaxed. I like that you caught what I consider a unique captured "pose" of a gibbon. I do think the background could be a little lighter so the gibbon would stand out more. But that just might be my "old" eyes not adjusting well. lol Thanks for sharing such a great pose. Happycamper

Thank you very much. I just went in and tried to lighten up the area around him. I don't know if I am all that good at that type of thing so maybe you could have a look and let me know if it is better or if you even see a difference! Thank you again for your feedback, I appreciate it!

I see a big difference, he stands out much better! He is adorable in that "pose". Nice job:)

Thank you! I was worried that I may have made it worse - I have old eyes myself :)

Ah now This is a pose I can relate to. The female was so demure, but the male is well a male. My kind of primate. I am going to practice this position as much as possible...at least until I find myself banished to the back deck by the boss. Great one Grace ~ Steve
