Deborah,
A beautiful picture of these optimistic Tulips coming in bud while the snow lies around them. They must sense rising temperatures you don't just yet? Beautiful composition, framing& lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

    Deborah,
Here in Dublin in the Emerald Isle we are as far north as Juneau in Alaska but due to the gulf stream we are blessed with a mild climate and often escape snow in the winter.

Literally a cool capture!
Still refreshingly verdant & very much alive despite the freezing ground!
Nicely framed with its subtle illumination creating the softest of shadows...

Thanks for sharing!

Oh wow snow in May! Great white balance and the green leaves are a nice contrast. We in the north certainly know that Spring seems to always hold surprises. We are expecting a nor'easter this tues. in ME. hope my crocus' survive. Thanks for sharing. Happycamper

Yes, HC...that nor'eater is going to get us too here in VT. My gardens are still buried under snow right now though so another foot or whatever comes won't matter much....lol....only to MY anticipation of spring perhaps. Do appreciate you checking out my new post. Thanks so very much...oh and hope your CROCUSES survive!!

This is a cool shot taken in the snow. It shows a little bit of spring peaking out. The green color is very vivid against the white snow. It makes me anticipate spring again.

Not sure if you are a new member ciabella....I don't believe I've seen your name at the end of a review before but typically when points are docked the reviewer states WHY. NOTHING in your review points to any technical issue you saw w/ my photo. I do not mind point deductions if reviewer has a valid reason....and shares it.

Yes I am new. Sorry for the confusion. I would like to see the white more bright to highlight the green plant even more.

there is a fine line for white balance cia. I adjust my camera to make sure white is NOT bright. You might want to read the section on reviewing. If you go to Q&A in the header you will find a well done section on awarding points. Just a suggestion but as you are new you might find it helpful or you will be hearing from others whose pieces you review.

Yes I have and they all like my reviews.

I think you misunderstood Cia. I was NOT suggesting there was anything wrong w/ your review just that it is courteous to explain for what reason you have deducted points.

It seems that we always are attracted to the incongruous combinations like this spring growth and snow. I am hoping to get hepaticas in snow this year, but they are not up yet despite the warm February. Great colors and very nice composition.

Sooo true mm! Don't know if the coming snow storm is going to reach as far as you?? My gardens are still buried at the moment so guess another foot of snow isn't going to matter much this spring. lol Always appreciate you checking out my new posts. Thanks so much for the lovely review.

Hi Deb!
Springtime is always unpredictable here in the northern states and your fine looking photo of these snow encrusted Tulips illustrates that wonderfully well!
'Good Show',my friend! : )

Same her Deborah! We have had a half inch of snow a couple times the first week of May and a few years ago we got 7.5 inches in mid April! :)
Anyway - this is a great picture. Your color control and white balance are perfect! I rarely see snow photographed so well. The green looks very nice against the white and it tickles my funny bone to see tulips almost bloomed while steeped in so much snow.

You know it barely slowed them down Grace...lol Might have taken o day or two longer for them to actually blossom but bloom they did....bright red!! Thank you so very much for your very kind remarks.....I debated whether to post a snow photo or a flower photo and picked this one so I could do both. Always appreciate you taking the time to check out one of my new posts.

"Still here" could be an appropriate title! Seems a shame that they should be covered in snow as late as May! Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well done!

No lighting make this photo become nothing special. I love snow, my country don't have it. Lighting can make the photo become very different. I love to shoot with morning sun and afternoon sunlight. wait the perfect time to shoot. If the sun lit the leafs, make the leaf glowing, it would be nice. And try to shoot from lower angle rather than from above.

Lots of things "would be nice" sofi but I shoot things as they are and do not edit them into what "would be nice" No sun this day either morning or afternoon which is actually the way I prefer it. And I CHOSE this particular shot from above purposely.....looks like you missed the point completely. Thank you for having a look..... although I do think "nothing special" was a tad harsh.
