This capture indeed deserved to win the contest. Who ever tried to photograph anything pure white knows how hard it is to archive a photo which is sharp focused and well lighted without blowing out any of the white. I admire how light is used here, especially the small spots where light shines through the petals from the back. It is not easy to determine if this flawless rose is natural or silken made by man, but the exquisitely captured textures show that indeed nature produced this beauty. The nationality is further intensified by the contradicting textures of ribbon and silk beneath it.

Your colors are exquisite! Perfect exposure. I like that you have arranged two shades of white and at different levels that guide the eye smoothly through the image. I think the various textures are also very nice and stand out well.

The detail of the rose petals is exquisite, like white chocolate shavings freshly drawn.
DOF, composition framing is excellent. The addition of the green leaves is masterful. Perfect contrast break.

An intriguing photo where the line between decoration and actual flora is blurred. Very crisp and sharply focused with great clarity and as the title suggests, brilliant white colour contrasting with the silvery grey nicely. Great pic.
