LAVATERA Life Cycle

You are quite right, we actually see the whole life cycle of this bloom within one frame, and I find that rather interesting. The flower in truly pretty as well with the strong pink colors, and are standing out from the nicely softened background in an excellent way.

Your photo is nice and sharp showing clear and well defined details both in the flowers and the buds, and the exposure is perfect.

The way you have cropped the photo works really well and the cluster of flowers in different stages is well placed within the frame. A truly lovely and well taken photo, and with an excellent DOF.

Isn't it av!! I don't believe any of my other flowers show the entire life cycle all at once....right next to each other like this. As you can tell I really study my flowers....lol ALWAYS enjoy your reviews and thank you so much for another oh so well done one av. They are just a pleasure.

Deborah,
A beautiful picture of these Lavatera flowers showing their complete life cycle from bud to seeds, set against a soft blurred green background that helps them to stand out in three dimensions.
Artistic composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

This is beautiful! Very unique observation, noticing the complete life cycle together on one branch. I can't help but think that most people wouldn't even notice. Great photo here! :)

Just love your screen name GS!!! I'd have to agree w/ you about people often not noticing the simple things. I also really enjoy when an artist posts something a bit unusual or has taken the time to really have a good look.....your feather, for example. Many people would not have seen the photo there so kudos to you! Do appreciate you having a look at my new post and thank you for the lovely review of it.

Thanks! And you're welcome! I was just wondering, do you know the answer to this... if I were to make a few adjustments to a photo would I just have to create a brand new post for it?
reply by the author on 25-Mar-2017
No GS. If you go to that post you can 'edit' it and you'll come to a spot that will say 'upload modified image' Choose that...upload your modified image and it will replace the old one w/ the modified version. Good luck.
reply by gargoylesocks on 25-Mar-2017
That's good! Thanks! I guess it puts a note that says modified or something? Or should I type in an additional comment that says modified? Sorry for all the questions lol. Thank you :-)
reply by the author on 25-Mar-2017
Oh don't worry at all about the questions GS. No...it won't say modified and unless it's drastically different you don't HAVE to note it. That's completely up to you. Good luck and please let me know if you have any problems doing it.

This is a beautifully composed photograph and your settings are perfect. Excellent DOF and color control but my favorite thing about this image is the way you have captured the full life cycle of the flower and that is was your intention :)

I had been studying these for awhile Grace and didn't realize until the second year I had them that I could get a shot like this showing the entire life cycle. It's the only flower I grow where it's so obvious so thank you for saying that and an even bigger thank you for the gold star!! I really appreciate it.

Deb - This take is why I'm a "FAN".

Camera technique leaves nothing to be desired. The entire plant is in sharp focus, nothing left to the imagination. Excellent background bokeh.

Composition and framing are superb.

Color balance, range and saturation are right where they should be.

Way to go - you rock ... B-)) Bob

This is a really beautiful photo of these flowers. I love the overall clarity and bright lighting. The green background provides a perfect backdrop for the bright fuchsia flowers. And the fact that you were able to capture its entire life cycle is quite phenomenal. Well done!

It is unusual Kate to be able to see all the different stages of a flower at the same time....I was pretty pleased to catch this one. Do appreciate you having a look at my new post and thank you so much for the marvelous review you gave it!

A rare shot at something so complex naturally, from your description - it is an amazing photo, with great clarity and lighting - and also the lively and natural colours apparent make it very appealing to the eye. Lovely story describing it too - fantastic work.

Yep, that sure is the life cycle: grow, bloom, hang around, then fizzle. Like the bright pink/purple. Good contrast on the flowers against the greenery. Makes them pop out. Great focus. A+

lol...an A+ swimmer...well that's even better than a gold star! Had to laugh btw at your assessment of life "grow, bloom, hang around then fizzle" ahahaha Guess we're in the 'hanging out stage" huh?? At any rate (and before we fizzle) I always appreciate your reviews and thank you so much for the extra sparkle you shared w/ this one.

I didn't mean fizzle in a negative way of course; take care.
reply by the author on 25-Mar-2017
but it IS what we do swimmer.....eventually, right?? lol we all fizzle out and die. I thought it was a perfect description!
