So these are both male. Having not spent much time on the east coast I've never seen this butterfly. It's really beautiful. The antennae look like musical notes to me. The way you've captured them, which is very nice, their shape reminds me of Manta rays. Great focus and lighting. I love the bronze background.

Great photograph, I love the way you have made the butterflies and flower the main focus by muting out the background and giving it a warm color to contrast the butterflies. Great focus and attention to detail.

Well I'm not even going to enter after seeing this beautiful piece of art which just happens to have matching butterflies supping at a beautifully chosen, contrasting pink flower! Softened, shaded background is a perfect backdrop, hovering behind the main features. Thank you for sharing, and good luck!

An amazing photo that (unless I've totally missed something) captures a very rare sight of two butterflies almost in perfect symmetry tending to the same flower. Amazing clarity and colours captured fabulously showing these beautiful creatures in all their glory, great work, a pleasure to see.

Wow, the natural symmetry is amazing. It's great you were able to find this and photograph it. The sharpness and detail on it is even better than looking at it with the naked eye, and this shows the intricate details of nature that we overlook every day. The blurred background's pink hues help add to this. I have to give six stars for this one.

Thanks for the information about these creatures. I'd like to know how/where you got this shot. What really works well here: the balance of the two while not symmetrical and the lighting from behind.

This take is absolutely sensational.

All camera techniques and post capture efforts are marvelous. No room for improvement in any aspect of this take.

What is the source of the back light - the Sun? If it is the Sun was there something acting as a filter?

I am asking this because whatever the source the effect it creates makes this shot.

In my opinion this is a masterpiece of photography.

It don't get better than this ... B-)) Bob

Thank you so very much for the lovely review Bob, and of course also for all the stars. The Sun was the source for the back light, and I used a Polaroid filter.
