Thank you for sharing this beautiful photograph and the informative story. This is an enjoyable excellent photo. I like that you took it in the rain. It tell the story of the entrance or exit from a place so sacred. And the story of no matter where you live you may need an umbrella.

A beautiful scene. I love the rainy weather and the nice flat light it gives you. The umbrellas also are a big plus. The image is very well composed and I had the pleasure of learning something about Japanese culture and history that was new.

Fred,
A beautiful & interesting picture of this ancient Torii with tall trees on either side leading the eye into the heart of the picture & the couple under their umbrellas taking pictures. The only thing you can post is the sound of the rain drops hitting the ground & the umbrella over your head? Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
Susan

This is a good photograph of a Torii. I recently painted one for an art contest here on FAR. It is so natural looking with the rain and all and having it closer to the right hand side of the frame makes it perfect.
I read your artist's notes and I would like to ask you something, if you please? Did you write these yourself? Because by the rules of FAR, you must write your own Artist's notes and I feel that the notes I am reading were just copied and pasted. The reason I am saying this is because I did a lot of research on Torii's and the words are jumping out at me as if I read them already, which is a copyright infringement. If I overstepped my boundaries, I do apologize. Maybe they are so closely similar that I am mistaken. Either way...if they are copied, then this is just a gentle reminder you should not do that. I would hate for you to get into trouble. If you did not do any of what I am asking....then please forgive me and put me in my place. I will accept full responsibility in being wrong about it in every aspect. AND I will increase your rating back to five. Thanks for sharing. I love Japan. Both Germany and Japan are wonderful countries with cultures I find fascinating.

    thanks Katharina;
    I'm already 5 years on this site and never heard that it is not allowed to copy valuable informations from Google; if it is true, it is a stupid idea because my own knowledge of all the places I visit is limited;
    what is not allowed is to post a pic not taken by myself

    I have to agree with you...but somewhere along the line, it was frowned upon. If I come across it in my notes what I was formally told by the Gestappo of this site (smile), I will gladly share it with you.

Ynou've managed to capture the enormity of this entrance, as well as the ambiance in the background. Excellent colors and lovely tile-looking walk-thru. Great framing. Hazy focus. Your explanation made this photo all the more beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
