This is nice. But, I would like this more if the shot was vertical. You can see the column. A horizontal photo with the center flower and spikes on the picture ends would make a more interesting photo. Make the white flowers white not light gray. Sorry that is just the way I see it.

Well pm12....we are all entitled to our opinions. No need to apologize. However...lol....I do NOT 'make' my flowers anything. I photograph them exactly as they are WITHOUT adjusting their color. These are exactly as they grow in my gardens. Whether or not it is posted as vertical or horizontal is a matter of taste I imagine and the 'column' you mention is the stalk....it is what the flowers grown on and around and I actually wanted it to show. So....that's my logic then for this photo. We don't have to like everything everybody posts.....and I do respect your right to not like mine.

I respect your right to defend your work. I am not here to argue. I do like the shot or I would not have given it a 5 star rating. That middle flower is a knock out with all the petals streaming from the center. Imagine that the whole photo. That would make you stand up and say "Wow".

and I do appreciate you not docking points b/c your comments were NOT w/ technical issues anyway....so....I am not here to argue either. This happens to be one of the most difficult of all my flowers to photograph. I work on it every season. Maybe I'll get one you REALLY like later on this summer...lol we'll see.

This is another flower that is extremely hard to get right. We have them in our yard. I took one photo of it about 7 years ago the I like. The rest is garbage. Some the center is in focus and the spikes aren't. So the other way around. What I did was to take a couple of flowers and bring them inside and light them with on all the time lights. Flashes don't work well with them. It looks fake. Glad to share info. We both grow as photographers.

Inside....yes...good idea. I have no problem w/ my camera techs w/ this particular flower....it is always the elements that give me a hard time. If you also grow this then you know those huge, long arms float in the very slightest of breezes....THAT is my biggest problem.

Tell me about it. Wind is hard to photograph in. A lot of pictures taken of the same subject. Than the wind dies down and click a photo is born.

I must say you make your flowers come to life and really take the star lead in the show. You and your camera have a knack for capturing the essence of excitement. Another great Show!!!

What a really lovely thing for you to say Mama M. I have told people before that my flowers seem to know when I'm out and about in the garden beds...lol... I imagine them vying for my attention "photograph me! photograph me!! " and, of course, I do..... So nothing makes me happier than hearing a viewer say they see my flower images 'come to life' EXACTLY what I hope for every time I post one of them. So thank you so much for that....endeavor accomplished!

A very well suited title to this lovely and unusual shot, a plant I've never seen that looks like the finale of a fireworks show! I think this would look great in B&W, but this is still amazing, with great DOF, sharp clarity and brilliant framing - lovely photo.

This one positively titled itself El-M!! Not typically a huge fan of B&W but may just have to agree w/ you...lol...that this guy might be interesting in B&W. Always a pleasure to see you at the end of a review and thank you for the wonderful one you've given this piece. I do appreciate it.

Compact framing but still leaving ample marginal spaces on both left & right frames.
Amazing how they looked trimmed on the sides just to fit in!
Fine floral features & textures.
Selective focusing which is visually appealing.
Illumination is just enough to brighten up the spiky florets with no blown out spots.
Nice perspective & narrow DOF.
Thanks!

I think this is such an interesting looking flower. Shaped a lot like a dandelion but with solid looking spikes with tiny pearls in the center. They are fun to see. Your notes are great, and amazing to me that they grow so tall. I have to research this flower now. Your capture of the white is perfect!

Looks like quite a dramatic flower presented here! Your full, central and overhead composition gives us a good look at it. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well done!

lol....Oh I have a huge variety Catmal. I have a hard time seeing something I really like and not adding it. I figure there is ALWAYS room for one more....and so far I have posted only a small portion of them here....lol....I have material for tons more posts! Always enjoy seeing you at the end of a review and thank you for the lovely review you've given this guy. Oh and if you ever get off your island there and visit Vermont you will have to tell me if it is anything like Ireland....I've heard it is.

:-)) A truly grand and powerful explosion of color and lighting. Wonderful image, strength in the detail over the frame. Great capture to enjoy after the blooms have given up. :-)) Thanks for sharing!

Oh they haven't given up Debi. This is what they actually look like in full bloom. Just a small section of one though, of course. Do appreciate you checking out my new post and thank you for the lovely review you've given it.
