This is a wonderful shot of flower. You have framed it well. Light and sharpness are very effective in in creating a lovely capture. Thanks for sharing!

I am curious then gg what the deduction is for? You are perfectly entitled to make one but it is commonly stated why. You say 'good' for everything you've listed so I am naturally perplexed.

When I first saw this it reminded me of fireworks exploding in the sky. I love fireworks. That goes along with your title. Adding to that is the black background like the night sky. I'm learning about so many flowers previously unknown to me from your photos. Thank you for sharing.

Ka-BOOM is an understatement!

These really grow to 8 feet tall? I have never seen this flower before, and I am awed.

Your presentation of these blossoms is overwhelming. When I first saw this I didn't know were to begin or how to look at this.

The petals, that's the only word I have, appear to be translucent.

From the look of this plant, it must be difficult to get even detail through out. However your take is well balanced in focal detail and white balance control - kudos.

The framing for this piece is very tight around the blossoms, and it works well.

You always produce a surprise ... B-)) Bob

lol....I love the thought Bob of you looking at this and trying to figure out what in the world you were looking at. It takes several years for these to acclimate themselves to their place in the garden. In fact, I was rather unimpressed the first two years after I planted them then- KA-BOOM...lol they took off! Yes on the height and yes on the almost translucent 'petals' (I never know what to call them either) THE most difficult plant in my gardens to photograph and believe me I have spent hours doing so....hoping this season I will get a better image.

Love your reviews! Thank you so much for having a look at this guy. If you have a spot at the back of your gardens somewhere you should try one. I PROMISE you will NOT be disappointed!

A very unusual flower. It seems that I may have run across something like this but not nearly the size you mentioned. I like the fireworks like structure of the blossoms.

Once established they take absolutely no work at all mm so I wouldn't be surprised if they grow wild somewhere. I do know that they are native to the US .....and as for size....well, things always grow larger in a well cared for garden....lol Thanks so much for having a look...am always happy to see a review w/ you at the end of it.

An amazing plant. Thanks for the information. This is nicely rendered, with a mixture of focused and unfocused portions. Intentional? The dark background makes it more striking. I wonder what it would look like without as much dark showing on the sides?

lol...I should say 'Of course it is intentional Anne' but this may be the most difficult of all the flowers in my gardens to photograph. It is pretty from afar but getting a close shot of those little white flowers w/o the arms heading off in different directions is always a real challenge. Do appreciate you checking out my new post....thank you so much...and thank you also for mentioning the notes.

I have never seen this plant before but I think it looks great. I especially like that you have gone in close so that we can see how each individual bloom looks like, and also the tight framing.

Your focus is spot on and sharp and it is clear and well defined details to be seen in the blooms. I also think the exposure is fine.

I can see that this is not an easy flower to photograph, but the photo is nicely cropped and the flower is well placed within the frame. It is also a well taken and with a very good DOF.

Oh av I have spent more time photographing the two CIMICIFUGA I have and have the least number of good images of them of any of my plants...lol...It is a BEAR to photograph (and BEAR is NOT the 'b' word I was really thinking of....lol) It is one impressive specimen though. Takes a few years to establish itself but is absolutely carefree after that. If you have a spot in the back of a bed somewhere you should try it. Try it....you'll love it..lol Thank you for having a look and for giving it such a wonderful review. I really do appreciate it.

WOW!!!! First of all..perfect title! I hope the majority of people read your artist notes...because the description of the size of the plant alone fits with the size of a firework shooting upward. What a delight to view this! I would change absolutely nothing. This is a tough one to capture successfully..but you did....while wanting to show some of the small detail and yet wanting to show the majority of the flower stem. I really like the result of your choice with your camera. The color limitation to various shades of white and that gentle yet vibrant lime green color with the black bg is stunning.

You have left a very big footprint on the pages of FAR. Your sensitivity to your gardens at any hour of the day or night and your knowledge and time spent sharing it have put you in a category all your own. I think you could easily have a garden book published....no kidding! It is always a joy to view and read your posts. Thank you!

awwww Becky....that is honestly one of the best reviews I've ever received. Absolutely spot on w/ the difficulties of photographing this guy. You just cannot appreciate the little flowers from a distance....so I get close....adjust my settings...and lol..a breeze sends the arms off...and I start all over again. Besides that- the flowers are all white. OMG the time I have spent trying to get a good close-up image.

I sooo appreciate your kind words and attention to the details (like the title....lol..a special thank you for THAT) At the moment we are in the season of brown and mud.....boring...but it won't be long before things green up and it's time for new photos. Thank you for checking this guy out and especially for sharing one of your gold stars. I appreciate both so much Becky.

The variation of petals nature produces seem uncountable and often strange. The petal-spikes of the exploding flowers look as if they are tightly curled up with the tip less tight. The center looks as if it want to open but cannot. Its almost as if this plant wants to repel insects rather than inviting them. I am not sure if it is my eyes, but to me the photo seems soft in its center while the it gets crisp to the outside.

So astute of you Cleo. This plant has insect repellent properties and the only animal that REALLY likes it is the Butterfly....who absolutely mobs it! lol One of my tougher flowers to photograph for sure....it's all white....the flowers are spread out and the very long arm sways in the breeze.....but I do try...every season. If I have better luck this year I'll post another. Thank you so much for having a look...and for your thoughts. Always love hearing from from a fellow gardener.

I know how complicated it can be to photograph anything if the wind is blowing. I wish you best look for all your future tries.

lol...you're a sweetie Cleo. Thank you. I will think of you when I'm at again later on in the season!
