Regardless, this is a magnificent picture. I like the darkness of the tree trunks and branches against the bright white petals of the cherry blossoms. Awesome picture.

I have to agree that the tree has a light pink tone to it. I have a cherry tree here and the flowers have both pink and white on them. A Dogwood would have been better. Can't really find the center focus on this shot. The reflection of light off the glass on the building has a bit of a glare through the flowers. Thanks for sharing.

What magnificent trees sg! WOW...very glad you included some people....gives a good perspective as to their size.
I like the wide format. Focus is good and it's well exposed. So committee jumped on you for these not being white? hmnnn..seems a tad harsh to me....especially since it was YOUR contest....well bet you're seeing RED now huh! lol Pretty shot sg....gorgeous trees.

A lovely photo of the blossoms. You showed how great the span of area is with these trees. I like how you show the people enjoying them.

Sorry about the disqualification Fred. I too thought it looked pink when I first saw it. Maybe it is the upload or the lighting. Anyway, That is certainly one BIG Cherry tree. I don't know how old these trees get, but this one definitely has some age to it. The inclusion of people really gives a proportion to the size. Well done Fred ~ Steve

thanks steve;
apparently your are a member of the CEC committee;
I 'll post tomorrow a close up of the blossoms: the petals are pure white, not the stamens or tree bark!
-
LOL. No not a member. But as I look at this on my lap top the blossoms do appear more pink than white. Try reposting and let's see what happens.
-
try to enlarge if you can and look at the blossoms on the left or right, where there is not much bark: the petals are white!
-
Ah. I see what you mean. On a larger view the petals are white on the left and right. I guess it is the bark that throws the color off.

A beautiful picture of this giant white Cherry tree in full bloom shading the people in the Shinjuku Garden coming to admire the blossoms & celebrate the Spring. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Now that is one hell of a blossom tree. You have composed the shot adequately within a good structure ,filling the frame to the brim with the whites of the subject. The retention of the people in the shot gives a great perspective to this presentation

This is a different and expansive view of your cherry trees and really does them justice. I love how they make the blankets of pink beneath the trees too. What a pretty and peaceful sight this is. I am enjoying the view.

I wonder who posted this one? LOL What a beautiful cherry tree. The way you've captured it, it reminds me of a banyan tree with several trunks. I suspect this tree is very revered by the Japanese because of their cultural respect of age and beauty. Great photo.
