I like the Cherry Blossoms beauty but I really like that they hide the overcast bright sky.
Great angle, fine POV, sharp focus and great textures and details.
A great view of the canal and vintage houses.
Nice work Fred ;)

Was the canal deep enough for boats? What a great capture of older Japanese architecture along the water with the cherry blossoms overhanging the canal. I can see this being a very cool place to visit.

Lovely how the tree branch grows out over the canal. The one house seems to have an atrium or courtyard with a tree growing out over the canal. Perhaps for light. I wonder how old the houses are? The stone embankment looks very old. Interesting photo.

    thanks so much again;
all the houses in this area are more than 150 years old: they are made of wood....

Excellent camera settings.

The color range and lighting of the take are well balanced and contribute nicely to the overall eye appeal of your composition.

DOF is excellent for the subject matter. There is strong detail across the entire image.

The framing of this composition is not cluttered and speaks well of the subject matter. Glad you included the Cherry Blossom bough in the top of the frame. It is just enough to mask an overcast sky. Well thought out capture.

Thanks for sharing ... B-)) Bob

Interesting different textures. Truly gives one a flavor of the culture's residential style. Perfect lighting and DOF. What time of day was this taken? I see no activity, which leads me to believe that this might be early morning.

Good camera techniques and excellent composition. I love how the canal just draws you into this photo. Nice is the angle of your shot capturing all the details and textures of old wood and bamboo on these old houses. So beautiful are the flowering tree branches framing your photography. This is very nice work and thanks for sharing these wonderful scenes.

boy, this gives a whole new meaning for seawall doesn't it?

i live on a canal seawall and when it started collapsing, we were scared to death.

this brings it up a notch. If the seawall fails, so do the homes.

Great visual Fred with great saturated colors.

Quite a fine cityscape shot presented here. I think the water flowing by the houses looks more like a river, to me, than a canal? Your nice composition leads the eye through the scene. Sharpness and exposure are good. Well done!

A great shot taken upstream with good lighting and these wonderful traditional houses right on the waters edge. Good angle for the photo and great clarity captures the details and texture of the structures nicely, as well as the colours (the cherry blossom is in there I see!) great shot.
