YOU ASK WHY

You ask why I make my home in the mountain forest,

and I smile , and am silent ,

and even my soul remains quite :
it lives in the other world
which no one owns .

The apple trees blossom .
The water flows .

Three for three Dear John. THIS one may be my favorite. Thank you for going back and finding it but especially for finding THE perfect words to put w/ it.

I wonder what animal made that last track through the woods ? Ive painted something similar to this image in my portfolio called winter woodland ..it reminded me of this image you share here although mine is a slightly wider path. The presentation is nice and sharply focused and I like how the sun is permeating through the trees and leaving wonderful shadows splayed across the white snow. Welcome Summer now Debs :)

Well there are my snow-shoes and Comanche (my German Shepherd) tracks....we came down the hill, walked a couple of hours and on the way back up the hill I took this photo. It's a well used trail though so could be lots of different animals (just not Bear- they were still hibernating at the time) I am going to go have a look at your 'Winter Wonderland' Neil and thank you so much for checking out my piece here....and you got it Neil 'Debs' is just thrilled to have winter over and done for the season! lol

    Debs!

Comanche acts like a little Indian!! lol She is almost 2 so has started being more protective lately....but VERY playful She's a lot of fun.

That's a little bit of a grade to walk up. Good exercise. Kind of the animals to leave you such a nice trail to walk on. Positioning of the trees convenient should you falter you just reach in any direction for a tree. The shot angling up to the sky is appealing.

It is Gail....lol...but not nearly as steep as a couple of other trails I snow-shoe on and completely agree that it's nice of them to leave me trails in such convenient places...lol Thank you so much for having a look at this one...and giving it such a fun review!

I like your snow images, but it is nice to hear that this one is just memory, because the snow is gone for now. I look forward to the photos with the first spring green now. Nevertheless, this photo is indeed pretty, especially the sunlight through the trees and the blue sky

I didn't realize until this winter Cleo how many people enjoy these snow images because it is something they rarely, if ever, see. Gives me a whole new appreciation for winter. Thank you so much for having a look at this one and for you very kind comments. Heading out to the gardens now to see if anything is poking through yet. Fingers crossed!

Yes, I like pretty images of snow, but not snow around myself. I remember the misery of cold snowy winters in a big city too well from Germany.

At last the flora will bounce back on this sparse pocket forest floor!

Actually, it's more visually appealing to see these slender trunks against the white snowy ground--looks neat, crisp & clean!
Unfortunately, we have no winter here so I don't know how it is to experience a snowy backyard!

Subtle illumination with that warm feeling as if gradually melting the compact ice...
Good perspective & long depth of field...
Diminishing perspective & Vanishing viewpoint create a great depth.

Thanks for sharing...

You have certainly achieved a beautiful image with this snow covered woods. So pristine and the light highlighting the colors of the tree trunks is great. Glad you have seen the last of the snow for a while and look forward to your garden in bloom shots. :) mary

Cute.... very cute, you know of course that I am sitting here right now wishing that you get just one more time to capture moments in the snow. LOL Is that mean??? It is only end of April... could get just one more. Sorry, I'll stop now! This is a great shot, offers up the good bye in quite a grand way. Fabulous focus and great exposure. Fantastic! Thanks for sharing!

I do appreciate you having a look at this one and thanks so much for a really wonderful review of it....but if it snows in May I'll be blaming it on YOU! ahahah

A nice, simple but effective shot captured at a good angle and with great DOF and crisp clarity that brings out the whiteness of the snow nicely, with the trees well spaced up the gentle slope making for a lovely winter picture. Good work!

I bet you're glad. Now, you can open your door LOL. Nice scene; like the shadows created by the Sun; pretty blue sky; looks chilly but still pleasant. An animals would have been nice to catch but still a wonderful shot. Btw/ I think I figured out my reviewing prob. Take care.

Oh no swimmer...lol...I actually always hope to NOT meet an animal when I'm out and about on their trails. They are all WAY bigger and stronger than me! We have an unwritten agreement down here in the woods to not disturb each other. So glad you figured out your rev. problem. I think the site was having 'issues' earlier in the week.....everyone was having trouble. Really appreciate you checking out this one and thank you so much for the extra sparkle yo shared w/ it!

Yay! I remember that feeling when I lived in Michigan! The photo shows what looked like a pretty nice day even with the snow. Blue skies, clean white snow, and a nice trail going through the woods. Til next year!

It WAS a gorgeous day Joe. I really don't mind the snow as much as I mind how long it's around...lol Bet you know what I mean being from Michigan. Do appreciate you checking out my 'ode to snow'. Thank you so much.
