It's the sharpness , that technical saviness that grabs my eye immediately. We feel like we are flying with this fellow, your POV is spot on, (you were in your glider, right?).

The colour palette is also so pleasing, it speaks of cool blue tones mixed with white and the white of the bird pops out and punches us in between the eyes. Having the bird looking right at us "eye catchment" is brilliant.

Your exposure calibration is spot on with absolutely no blow outs. Nothing wrong with the off center composition giving us the sense that he has just taken off thanks to the larger marginal space at the right.

Tonal contrasts are lovely and you have no loss or pixellation which happens when overprocessed.

You nailed this with artistry and with technical know how.

Great shot and a very appropriate entry for the contest. The sharp details and colors make the bird stand out very nicely. Good placement in the frame. Background sky sets the tone. Very well done. Best of fortune in the contest ~ Steve
