piercing image that one cannot fail to engage with and i believe that the expression in the eyes have something to do with this and the structure of your presentation with the large head pretty much centrally focused and then you have the body that cries for food...a very sensitive piece of art my friend and quite different for you as it becomes thought provoking

Folks don't realize I'm an illustrator for stories than a cartoonist. If ya get the chance watch the music video that is attached to it. I draw everything. Wink. Thanks for the great review.

This is a very different take on your usual but I am impressed as always. I hope it brings notice to a severe problem. I was just reading about how the people on the islands of Fiji do not have fresh water to drink because of the Fiji water company. The continued harm of our people and planet makes my head and heart hurt.

If you have the chance watch the video that is attached to it. Some folks think I'm just a cartoonist but reality I'm an illustrator that draws everything. Ya just never know what a writer wants to express their story. Also every year I enter this child art contest with some happy scene but wasn't enough to get notice by the committee. This time I'm gonna make them think..wink. Thanks for the great review

Yo! This is one powerful and impact loaded piece!

Your gift for illustration is at its best here my friend.

Simply put this has bold color and a haunting human theme.

Checked out "Don't Stop Believing". I really liked that version of the song.

Your graphics lay it all bare and bleeding for all who seek the truth to see.

Rock on ... B-)) Bob

There is no excuse for starvation in our world. Most countries that suffer from it do so from corruption. OK. Off soapbox.

This is sad and evokes emotion. The detail is very real. Good luck in the contest.

Holy Guacamole, this is very unusual work for you, out of the ordinary.

I love it all, it is realistic especially of end stage starvation and he does look like a withered old man. It is a surprise to see him standing, one would expect him sitting or lying down, so this shows he still has some strength left.

Why do you have that red bar at the side?....it is incongruous to the whole image and reminds me of a barber's pole.

I would love to see more art like this MK....and will patiently.

Olga the child is beside a bruckwall. No this is not unusual for me. Out of over 800/drawings. Only about 300 is cartoons.did you watch the video that is attached to this? The video is a small example which I have many more that is gallery work and not cartoons. Seems like folks just didn't put attention to me till I brought out the funnie flowers. Thanks for the great review

Hi Mark,
This is not the kind of image you would expect to see in a "Baby and Child Contest", but in some countries it IS a common sight! You reminded all of us that we need to make sure NO child anywhere should have to suffer like this. Thanks for this painful wake-up call, do we NEVER forget! I think this is a brilliant piece. Bless Your Heart! HUGE pat on the back from ME! SO deserving of 6 Stars! :o) Helvi

This is an disturbing painting. This child seems not only starving, but also crippled by malnutrition. Disturbing it is, but I think seeing an artwork like this wakes us western people up to reality. We forget although easy how good we live, but that the good live is not warranted to everyone. This child stays on the entrance of a building made from adobes. Maybe a house in a vacation resort. This drawing makes the viewers thinking about.

Sorry, That was a laps on my keyboard. I mean drawing.
By the way, this drawing looks like a painting especial the shading. That's what I was going to write when screwed my review up.

This is a true call for change - I am working on this change right now (few time left) but this illustration really reflects the mess the western world created in Africa - time to change and to give these people their dignity back - you have found the very perfect combination showing our richness and the starving people -
your call of consciousness hopeful will make people think deeper - your work is excellent, perfect in fine details as always a master piece in perfection - sad and handsome as work, thanks for sharing

This is so realistic yet startingly surreal. Great dimensions on background. Tons of detail on the background so you get the feeling of native living. The child looks pleading for help and needs someone or something to ease his suffering. At first I thought he was missing an arm but see that it is behind him. Arms out in front begging would be fantastic. Great face! So interesting!

Not all would have their arm stretch. The lake of nutrition puts them in a zombie state at that young..how do I know..before I was adopted I looked like this child at that age..wink. Thanks for the great review

There is so much to look at in this work of art. Your artistry in shadows and lights with your markers is just amazing. I'm thinking if you could be discovered before you die...you could be the Sharpie Monet. I'm serious..I have studied every stroke and dot of your markers and how you every map out where your shading will be. And is there any way that you correct a mistake? Or do you simply begin again?

Your image is poignant and your heart is in your composition. Viewing this one is a pertinent event of sorts. Both in talent and in message. Thank you, Mark.

i think the word your looking for is being famous. i have been already discovered just not famous enough to keep a steady income. i have sold many to different writers. i have 19 music videos that some unknown musicians are asking but no real bites(money is a factor) except for one so far. Rasmine from Fanstory.com is trying to get discovered by a publisher so i threw this idea at her to write a children's story about the worlds 1st flower superhero. so we are in collaboration on that novel. Also the songwriter and musician Bryan Taylor is gonna write a song for the video that will advertise the book. of course im the guy drawing them and putting the video together. a joint collaboration from all 3 (fanartreview, fanstory and fanmusic) working on one project (book and music video) you know some years ago my oldest daughter asked me if i was trying to get famous"..i responded back.."no darling. daddy is just trying to get paid!" wink..lol..i dont know what search engine you use.., explorer, google, or netscape..but you can enter my name "mkflood" you will find many pages about me. one is an interview from Art colony. so yes i have been noticed, but just hadnt caught the right person or right enough people with a checkbook to keep the income steady. so to keep the bills paid i work at Walmart, while i keep being persistent with the ole sharpie/bic artwork. oh yeah sharpie (Sanford Corp) knows of me. i got lucky to have my work in the sharpie sponsored music video "purple" that aired on the MTV Movie awards back in september, 2012. im not gonna bore ya with the the other websites and contest i go after. call me relentless..lol. thanks for the awesome review
