I love this I had no idea flamingo's were so beautiful. Your focus is sharp on every part of these flamingo's with good details of the feathers and markings. A good exposure and good lighting. Nice background and depth of field to accentuate your overall photography. Your title is perfect and good storytelling. I love this one!
Thanks for sharing these wonderful scenes.

Fred, I know what you were trying to achieve here, and keeping the feathers in the foreground sharp is perfect.

Your play on the periscope is witty and well done.

Nice burst of pink color. The one neck our of all the birds sticking out makes it look like one big bird. I like the black background to show the pink color more.

If this was taken with a DSLR I would recommend stopping down about 2 stops. If this is taken with an iPhone or equivalent then you are the victim of the quirky AF systems of the genre.

The color range and lighting of the take are well balanced and contribute nicely to the overall eye appeal of your composition.

DOF is excellent for the subject matter. There is strong detail across the entire image.

The framing of this composition is not cluttered and speaks well of the subject matter.

Thanks for sharing ... B-)) Bob

    thanks a lot again;
    DSLR of course; 2 stops down to make it darker ??

    2 f stops to make the one in the back sharper.

    not very easy: it was taken with an equiv. 600 mm lens, just on a monopod: had to use a shutter speed of 1/1500 sec at 800 iso....aperture 8; I prefered to have the 2 in the bg blurred rather than the whole pic motion blurred with a longer shutter speed;

    I think it is very good piece of photography. I appreciate your thought process for this take. Keep on a rockin ... B-))

An extremely eye catching shot. I like all those fluffed out feathers in the foreground. They are shown in sharp detail and beautiful colors. The solitary flamingo with his neck stretched upward is really great.

Another way to look at this is that you focused on the wrong part of the scene or that your aperture was not small enough. Irrespective of the technicalities you have posted a very beautiful and enjoyable shot here! Well done!

I really like the fluffy feathers lit up by the sun which makes this a unique and creative POV.
The dark background works well and allows the fluff of the feathers to stand out. They remind me of feather dusters.
I know you don't edit, but I would be tempted to remove the two heads in the background. But I leave that to you.
Nice capture Fred..a different perspective on a Flamingo capture.
;)

Haha a lovely title for this great shot of this flamboyance (I looked it up!!) of Flamingos, with the one periscope popping up as though it's all one big pink flamingo submarine lol. Wonderful clarity and lighting captures the beautiful and vivid varying shades of pink in them wonderfully, that stand out even better with the dark background - great shot!! looks like you had a great day at the zoo here!!!

Yes, yes, yes. Perfect title. This is a wonderful shot, with the brilliant feathers contrasted with the dark background. Nice and mostly sharp. Do you think maybe they take turns being the lookout?
