A great shot of this baby hippo. I like the different shades on him. The rippling effect of the water shows the movement of him getting water.

Your camera settings bring this take to life.
The color range and lighting of the take are well balanced and contribute nicely to the overall eye appeal of your composition.
DOF is excellent for the subject matter. There is strong detail across the entire image.
The framing of this composition is not cluttered and speaks well of the subject matter.
Thanks for sharing ... B-)) Bob

Fred,
A beautiful picture of the Hippopotamus leaning forward to drink the light lighting up the left side of it face & left front foot. It would not be wise to swim with it, or you might find yourself on it's Dinner menu? Beautiful composition framing & lighting taken with sharp focus.

It came as something of a surprise to me to learn that more people are killed by hippopotami in Africa than by any other animal. (except people that is). A very nice shot in which he looks like he wouldn't hurt a fly.

We have a premature baby hippo in the Cincinnati Zoo. We are so eager for her to come out to the world. Such large creatures. Excellent image, Fred. Well done.

LOL is right! Not sure what it would be like swimming with this 'cutie'..:D Perfect exposure here..colors too. And the detail of the hippo..the feet and nose are very interesting to study due to your excellent clarity. Nice placement in your frame with that 'shoreline' moving a bit diagonally through the screen. An overall interesting and pleasurable photo to view!

Wow, what a fantastic piece. This clearly shot and precisely captured moment is fantastically timed, and gives a real feel of how big and powerful these beasts are, taken with good focus and framing - well done.
